The bigger question to ask of someone who’s running for public office and complaining of such a large expense for their personal vehicle would be “Why don’t you utilize the LIRR and work on campaign stuff on the train instead of sitting in NYC traffic like some kinda schmuck?”

Yeah, but if it’s a business expense AND he’s an economist, WTF economic and tax policies has he studied? That shit’s a write off and no one’s calling that out?

While I also hate seeing the results changed after the event has long finished, at the very least, Mercedes needs to appeal. Firstly to show that they fully support their drivers but secondly to try and force the FIA to get their collective shit together when it comes to applying the rules.

I was actually shocked Masi didn’t pull the same stunt he pulled last week where he called for a safety car (Lewis pits for new tires) THEN he red flagged the race.  If you want consistent, that’s what he should have done.  Then Lewis would have put on fresh tires, Max would have been back behind the lapped cars, sort

And not just consistent, not just racing drivers either.  Throw in someone who knows how to read and interpret rules (like an attorney/barrister), a former driver and someone like a long time race steward.  All three are at every race so the call they make when one driver runs afoul of the rules is consistent with the

Look at it from a strategy perspective from the Mercedes garage. If the rules state that all lapped cars, you would never expect only some lapped cars to overtake. Knowing there weren’t enough laps to allow all lapped cars to unlap themselves, return the safety car to the pits AND finish the race, you opt to keep

He wouldn’t have needed to hit Max... the wall would have been enough to call get a yellow flag.  Or just tag the nearest driver in the first turn.  But you couldn’t call for that over the radio, he would have needed to come up with that plan on his own, knowing full well that he could be sanctioned at best, severely

Started? He’s been in the Mercedes Young Driver development program the entire time he’s been in F1.

Might I interest you in the Mercedes-Benz Bionic?  cd of 0.19, slightly more than the thing in the article, but doesn’t suffer the same issues with cross wind.  It uses cameras instead of outboard mirrors to cut drag.

I can’t really say without going back and watching all of his races. I know he did take out Prost for the title once and that’s just dirty. Just like Schumacher, he should have lost all of his points that year.

He can be better and make use of his talent if he can keep calm when the pressure is on. But right now he can’t, so he just rages and makes rookie level mistakes which end up taking him out or taking others out.

Not that one, this one,

Or he does learn but by then it’s too late.  Either he’s too old or the formula changes and whatever car he’s in doesn’t have the advantages.  I’m honestly really excited to see what George Russell can do in the Merc next year.

Yeah, maybe, but Vettel learned that it’s easier to win the championship if you bring the car over the line in one piece. Max has had enough time and experience on track but that lesson ain’t sinking in.

Now playing

A bunch of people kept saying that Max didn’t brake check Hamilton. I wasn’t sure so I waited for the eventual steward’s review. They found in the telemetry that he definitely did. But I’ve been firmly in the fuck him camp after he took out Grosjean at Monaco. What was the point of this (the Grosjean crash is the

There were still times when they came together.  I honestly thought that Silverstone would have been a real teaching moment.  Horner’s take was “no one makes a move on the inside of that corner”.  During the race, Hamilton made the exact same move at least twice and no one went into the wall or made contact with each

I live in CT and that’s where Kaman is based. One flew over campus one day and I heard it coming and thought, “What the fuck is that noise...” It came over the tree line and I knew exactly what it was but boy do those intermeshing rotors make for a strange sound.

Oh, they’re in Texas too.  If you’ve never seen them then you lack what they feast upon which is usually the larva of silverfish, roaches, bedbugs, etc. But they’re also stupid fast, so maybe you just didn’t hear the rush of wind as they dart for cover.  Fast like my cat had a hard time catching it fast.

Ahhh, where to begin. Honestly, it mostly comes down to his attitude. And I don’t just mean the guy’s a dick, that’s almost to be expected at the highest level of any sport. Unlike many other sports out there, motorsport in particular puts you in a place that is very dangerous to you and those around you.

Kaman K-MAX... if you can find one. Strangest thing you’ll hear fly overhead, kinda small but has a 6,000 lift capability.
