Black mashed potatoes = caviar.  I took it as funny and then realised it could mean black mashed potatoes are better than white mashed potatoes, like WAY BETTER.

It’s fucking Colorado, they have some really big snow plows that move fast enough.  Since these tools have gotten used to the police not doing anything, a police escort to the where the action is happening and just plow them off the street.

Drivers test was easy, it was my motorcycle endorsement that was a whole different beast. I took that when I was in my mid twenties. A couple of friends had bikes and told everyone else that now was the time to learn to ride. So they taught us the basics and let us borrow their bikes. I get my permit, helmet, jacket

Had the opposite experience, the DMV center also had an emissions test, so traffic would line up outside the DMV coming in the opposite direction forcing oncoming traffic to come over the double yellow and into my lane. But this hadn’t started just yet... so we take off and the tester explains this and then tells me

Pretty sure that’s what flare guns and radios are for. Make the call into the USCG or local Harbor Master on the emergency channel that you have a boat (name the vessel) harassing you. If they continue to harass you, let the USCG/Harbor Master/Sheriff know you are firing off a flare so they can locate you.

Totally forgot the MOST IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE!

I don’t think it goes down the road of ‘your lifestyle and needs dictate that you shall only drive a fully electric vehicle that fits 2 passengers, 1 cat and a medium sized set of luggage’. But for things like light trucks, they were exempted from the CAFE standards (and a few others) because when those were all put

Fix the whole thing, find a way to fit the eGolf in the back of an even bigger pickup or get an e-bike to keep back there.  It’ll show that you care enough for the planet that you’ll be using a more efficient means of transport for short runs so you’re not always driving the truck.

Yep! And maybe include a link to the CDC’s info on those potential diseases. Some casual readers might think you were exaggerating, but with THAT much rodent activity, all three are possible including Lyme if that’s made its way out there.

I wouldn’t even do that.  I’d start with chemical resistant Tyvek and a full face respirator.  I wouldn’t even dilute the bleach we’ll be using to spray this thing down with.  After it’s been completely soaked and has baked in the sun for an hour, then you blast it with the power washer.

Go look at her profile and find the video... she also shares the rear camera view. The semi was trying to get into the lane she ends up in and there’s PLENTY of space behind the truck. The correct maneuver would have been to slow down and maintain in that lane and let the truck exit to the left.

Yep, grew up with family in the City, then driving in the City.  The Brooklyn still comes out sometimes too.  Had a similar experience, driver didn’t yield so I honked, dude cuts me off and GETS OUT OF HIS CAR like he wants to fight.  Gave him a ‘friendly wave’ and left him standing in the street as I laughed driving

Rory mentions NYC so baseball bat comes to mind for deterrent.

No idea, looks like you should be able to get a new or lightly used one given the budget too. Having just looked at used cars for a coworker, I’m shocked there wasn’t a Ford Fiesta in the mix.  Used prices on Ford sedans really tanked after they said they were not going to make them anymore.  Saw a 2015 Fusion w/ 25k

That depends on how you get it. Still installed in a car that’s seriously in need of restoration and they’re not bad. Even in still running condition in a vehicle they’re expensive if you just want the motor, but cheaper than a Porsche unit. Pristine Corvairs are pricey, but still running ugly ones aren’t bad,

Probably either no room for radiators or just wanted to keep it air cooled without buying an actual Porsche motor.  Replacing VW air cooled motors with Corvair motors or parts was definitely a thing back in the day.

It won’t double as a charcoal starter unless you put some metal in there. It’s an inductive heater. The head doesn’t get hot, the electric field causes the metal inside (or near) the wire coil to heat, so there will be radiant heat which will make the coil hot in use.

While this is true, let’s say you work at a place that purchased 200 of those canisters last year... I saw this and thought, holy shit, maybe we can get away from those 1 pound torches!

They do make dependable engines!  They also hot-rodded their corporate jets with custom engines because why wouldn’t you if you just so happened to be in the business of making jet engines!

Now playing

Unlikely from sitting. When they talk about cracking, it’s due to stress on the parts. And we’re talking about the kind of cracks you can’t even see with a microscope. They use various methods, not sure what’s used on fan blades, here’s a video of using Magnaflux to find stress cracks in engine parts... just picked up
