So so so incredibly disappointed. I’ve been reading his latest book to as a guide to get through the loss of my mother and now I have to stop. As a black woman it’s starting to feel like we can only trust other WOC. If anyone has heard of a book about grieving your mother by a woman of color let me know!

This paper was actually covered in a documentary (the one about Gawker) and they were eventually bought for something similar. Sheldon Adleson, some casino owner, didn’t like his coverage in the paper (along with some things staff had published separately) so he bought out the paper. But that doesn’t mean that media

I think it’s the heels and the train that are a bit much for me. Without the train and with a lower heel height I think it would have worked.

I’m from Indianapolis and I kindly request that they stop.

Just one more reason to love her! Putting 1992 Deluxe on repeat for the rest of the day.

To be fair though, I’ve read a few articles that said it was more difficult for Asian students to get into Ivies than it is for white students (although, that’s true for all non-whites, but that’s a whole other can of worms). Often their applications get flagged with dog-whistle terms like, “too quiet” or “robotic”. ht

Yeah, Hoosier here. Cincinnati has a reputation for being racist. It always annoys me when people shit on the South for being racist when the Midwest and Northeast are JUST AS BAD.

Look at old pictures of Chyna and new pictures of Kylie. Kylie is the cheap car boot, not Chyna. Chyna had that super plastic look first, the Kardashians just copied her.

Yeah, I agree that people of all colors can be shitty towards POC, but I try to contextualize it. It’s easy for white people to be compassionate towards POC, they stand to lose nothing. But I think for POC I think when you take self-loathing and crab mentality into account, I’m more likely to be sympathetic. To get

Besides, POC who voted for Trump because they are Trump supporters are only acting in accordance with their views. The issue with the liberal elite is that they claim to be against Trump, they claim to be allies, or they claim that they’re outraged by the actions of his administration, but then they laugh with and

Not all Latinos are people of color though and they’re certainly not a monolith group, it makes sense that at least some of them would vote for a racist.

No they don’t, I just mean that it’s a bad idea in the U.S., even worse in a foreign country, which is why it’s surprising that no one at Netflix thought to take security seriously.

I’m surprised, given that it was a dangerous area, that Netflix didn’t think to hire a security detail or contact anyone in local government to ask them the best way to go about it.

It doesn’t matter how hard you work at something if you’re bad at it.

Yeah, I mean with models I get that it’s different, it’s not like they’re in charge of the shoot or anything. Like with Marc Jacobs, I wouldn’t get mad at Kendall or Gigi, I get mad at the designer.

In a way I agree, I don’t want to assume how other minority groups feel about appropriation and to do that would be to talk over them. But I think you have to keep in mind that this comes from a place of, “we don’t appreciate it when our shit is appropriated, I’m sure ___ group doesn’t either” rather than, “we’re

I think she means this though specifically in an American context. Japanese citizens probably wouldn’t be offended by someone in a geisha costume because they’re not a minority group. Japanese Americans on the other hand might have a different experience because they are a minority group.

Same thoughts on the mesh. I hate when those “nude” dresses aren’t dyed to match the wearer’s skin tone. I figure if you can tailor a rented dress to fit, you should also be able to dye it to an appropriate color.

It also matters that these are different groups and different topics so of course the reactions of the Black community and the reaction from the Jewish community will be different.
