Perfect. It’s come full circle.
Perfect. It’s come full circle.
Hollywood has been routinely out of ideas since the 1930s. This isn’t new, this is status quo. It’s a business and most business revolve around safe bets which means an endless amount of variations on the same thing. I just hope the next A Star is Born has a kaiju in it.
Oh man those matching Tron cards are amazing. I love those movies.
Oh a Matrix article. Time to grab the popcorn, sit back and watch people whine about a 17 year old movie they haven’t watched since they were teens or early 20 somethings
They aren’t perfect, but the Matrix sequels have far too much to say to be ignored.
While I always figured and enjoyed the concept that they were a bio-weapon from an ancient and forgotten species, it is largely unimportant, Any way you go about it the act of exploring it at all takes away from the mystique of it.
I don’t recall Adora emotionally tormenting and trying to pull a murder suicide on Glimmer because Glimmer had other friends. Catra spent several seasons being pretty disgusting and vile, not 2 episodes of “I’m on the wrong side”. Several seasons of just gross, toxic obsessive behavior that got brushed away a little…
“Hey remember those times you repeatedly emotionally tormented me while actually trying to kill my friends and I to the point of downright murder suicide by the end of season 4? ...Yeah, me neither, now let’s sail this ship!”
Catra being redeemed so quickly this season really soured me on what was otherwise a very…
Yesss. I’m glad there was a huge boost in viewers this season.
The video is maximum cringe.
This latest season has been a delight! Not just because of the fantastic guest stars in ridiculous roles like Mark Hamill here or Benedict Wong (as a spoken word poet/scatting Necromancer) in an earlier episode. The hilarious writing, the cast just nailing the roles and the pitch perfect mockumentary feel all really…
Godzilla King of the Monsters was so disappointing and I feel like that largely falls on Dougherty. It’s easily in my bottom 10 Godzilla movies which is saying something because there’s 35 of them (I guess you can throw G98 in there to up the count one more) and some of them border unwatchable, especially the anime…
It’s funny that my friend and I were just talking about Cocoon last week and how it completely fell out of the zeitgeist. Was it because old people stopped going to movies, or because Steve Guttenberg stopped being a thing? What happened? I mean I haven’t seen the movie in over 20 years, but I assume it still stands…
I feel like something got lost here. Yes there are pointless battles. The movies do however have a point overall and all the ideas pay off, which you seemed to imply didn’t. But whatever.
Can’t speak for Westworld, but the points made by the Matrix sequels and very pervasive throughout the movies. Now if you said there were so many pointless mech battles in a city we didn’t care about that features characters we didn’t care about which makes for boring action fluff between all the interesting points…
Because studios aren’t going to suddenly abandon decades worth of operational procedure. Plain and simple. They really do not want “a new normal”. They’re a capitalism based industry. They want the old normal because its what they know worked and made them money. They’re currently trying to wait the pandemic out so…
There’s several valid and obvious reasons for pushing back this movie as well as others.
Damn. I was actually looking forward to a back-to-back Matrix 4/John Wick 4 double feature weekend. I legit can’t remember the last time I bothered to go to two new movies in one weekend let alone on the same day.
Counterpoint - Don’t check out Extraction on Netflix. It was a cringy attempt to make The Raid/John Wick movie with horrible “long shots” laden with CGI cuts and stunts that looks like a PS3 era cutscene. The movie has no idea how to tell a story with the action scenes, the script is “Dolph Lundgren direct-to-VHS 90s…
I adored the first and especially second season of Infinity Train. I will definitely pick up this release. Really hoping for that 3rd season.
