I got a full set doing this, which I used for quite a while. Also leveled up enough to be able to handle the Watchers without much trouble.

The ones before the Abyss Watchers are fun. I run up to them, then run back down the hill and piss off the bird things and let them fight. Of course, this means you’ll have to clean up whatever survives, but its fun to watch and you can farm souls and Dark gear.
