I would posit that some players like this, and require it to get the best out of themselves. Some need someone to get mad at them so they can get mad at themselves which brings out their best. For players who don’t want that, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting a different approach, don’t go to a school

So this guy should be blacklisted for life because he didn’t want to play mom for a bunch of adults? Honestly, would you go to your manager if one of your colleagues was being mean to you?

I enjoy how things are so PC here that we need to go out of the way to shame Greg Easterbrook for thinking cheerleaders are pretty when that’s sort of what they’re there for. Thank goodness we have deadspin the good to protect the honour of modern day women who elect to become cheerleaders. It’s not like Jerry Jones

See above. It doesn’t matter.

I am acutely aware of how marginal tax rates work. Regardless, philosophically the government should not take more than 50% of any dollar I make, whether it is my first dollar or my last dollar.

That anyone could conceptually support a 70% tax rate hurts my brain. I live in another country where our tax brackets are lower but top out above 50% and I find it offensive that the government could expect more of my compensation than I get.

The solution here is to obviously go back to another era when receivers and defensive backs could maul one another down the field. I think that frankly removes the judgement call from the equation although this penalty would likely still qualify as PI in that era. At least then you’re only penalizing things that are

I am stereotyping and assuming you didn’t play sports but numbers are used for ease of recollection at a young age and I presume it’s just sticks with people in an announcing context through force of habit. I recall practice as a kid where you might not know the players on the other team in JV sports so during walk-thr

Uhhhh you see who their clients are, right? I don’t think Cam Newton or Patrick Peterson want to go to the museum. I mean, I don’t know how brazen they are but I don’t think this practice is exceptionally uncommon in high-stakes sales.

Didn’t we already have a post on this? Do we really need need to keep talking about the “But guys, remember when he was accused of something!?!?”.

Him running from “demons” his whole life would indicate this is something he had before. I’m also not acutely aware of the connection between CTE and bipolar given one is physical trauma and one is brain chemistry.

Absolutely not. I know everyone here likes to blame “big footbaw” for any issues these players have but this guy is mentally ill. He sounds he has bipolar or perhaps is schizophrenic.

I enjoy that this article went in the exact direction I was hoping it would.

This is the inherent weakness of organized labour in that everyone looks out for a balance of what’s “fair” rather than what is best. This doesn’t work when you’re trying to achieve excellence which is what it takes to win a Superbowl. These guys want their guy out there, who is under contract, because it allows them

Really great to be wrong about rape allegations....

Shutup, this is a terrible take. I know everyone here like to compete about how politically correct they are but constantly injected race into everything is obnoxious and frankly a disservice to actual issues. The reason people do that is because their loyalty is to the team. Very seldom are there players who

Better or worse than professional scalpers?

Disagree. I attended the Blue Jays Canada day game last year which went to 19 innings and had Barney and Goins pitching which is obviously what Torre was referencing. I shamefully left the same early in the 18th, which I pride myself on having never done in my life, because I had been at the ballpark for over 6 hours
