Was there ever such a thing as a 175K mile Aries? That’s like getting 500K miles out of anything else.

I have three answers, deal with it:

This. 2002-2003 Maxima 6MT. Sure, it had a railroad tie for a rear suspension; but did 0-60 in 6.0 seconds. At 80 MPH in 6th gear I’d often pull 30-35 MPG even though it was rated at less. The gear ratios were great for smoking the tires through 1st and in to 2nd, but 6th gear was amazing for high speed cruising while

Have a ‘14 JGC Limited with the 20” wheels. VERY impressed by the handling. Good steering feedback, limited body roll, pretty fun and capable on the mountain roads up here in CO.

I’d have to think that has something to do with it too. 118 is plenty for a car with that god awful railroad tie for a rear suspension anyway.

So Doug, each time you create a video do you willingly select the same song each time? I’m referring to that wistful music you’ve used from your Borat soundtrack CD that sounds like it came from some Eastern Bloc country. I only ask because I care.

Fun fact: GXE and GLE models had the governor. SE models would get close to 150 MPH. I personally had my 99 SE up to 142, with about 600 RPM left to use up before hitting the redline at 6,600.

$2800 is pretty high for that, you can find a fourth or fifth generation in good shape for around that mark. Luckily, the 93 SE had the same 190 HP even though it was a different motor. The Edmunds/KBB values tend to get pretty skewed with cars of that age, especially Japanese models that hold their market value well.

95-99 I30’s can be found with a factory 5MT, but they are few and far. Why am I still grey! I just gotta comment when Tavarish talks about Maximas!

2002 models can also be equipped the exact same way. I had a 2002 SE 6-MT with the HLSD. Favorite car I’ve ever owned - and thats on a list of 19 cars.

This just has to be Florida.

I was fairly close to buying a 2002 Acura TL-S from a place called Millennium Motors in Chicago. This was back in 2008, and I hadn't yet heard that their transmissions were basically constructed out of tin foil, so I guess I dodged a bullet there. Anyhow, I drove 5 hours to go pick this car up with cash in hand.

I’ve owned four maximas, but the CVT thing made me never want one again. Paddle shifters on a CVT? Engine noise added to the cabin to hear the motor drone slowly through the power band with no shifts? No fun. Bring back the 6MT dammit.

1990? Nope, at least 1999.5 or newer.

I've personally owned 19 cars, but none were as unreliable as my dad's 1995 Mazda Millenia S that he bought new in '94.

Ha! I had the same revelation. I remember the pic with the carbon hood that was on the site banner, and your swap. Maxima.org was a great community when I had my 97, 99, and 02 SE 5/6MTs. Greetings from the former "Maximizd97" who just basically complained about knock sensors and camshaft position sensors.

I'd also add this - if you're shopping at a lower budget, hold off on signing your name on the title and registering the car for a couple weeks. This way, if you come across some major problems after the sale and need to offload the car you will have saved yourself the cost of sales tax and registration.

Volvo S60R

Yep. My 2014 JGC has been plagued with electrical issues and a transmission that seems to be on the fritz.

I might get some guff for these, but with the exception of the railroad tie rear suspension in the Maxima, it's hard to find such a functional quick sedan with 6MT and nice options for under $5K. I had a 2002 6MT - it was a rocket in a straight line, with a great tranny (HLSD) and features that were ahead of it's
