@xFrap: That's what we did. The $30 per month is just the data plan. Since he had a basic phone before, his bill went up by $30, but dropping the Mifi reduced it by $59.

My parents are always on the road and they had a Mifi pocket router through Verizon as their only internet. I talked my dad into switching to a Droid with wifi tethering. He's WAY happier and his internet bill is half what it was since the data plan for the Droid is $30 and the Mifi was $59.
