Can we, as a society, no longer recognize that it is, in fact, true, and that we white people are indeed so lame?

Women be shoppin’!
Remember when conservatives said that The Colbert Report was a hateful caricature of conservatives and that his CBS show would flop in the ratings? Well, after electing a president more extreme than Stephen’s Report character they’re still going on about how nasty and divisive his show is even though it’s leading in…
How can I POSSIBLY do my job as a stand up unless I’m able to point out the different ways in which black people and white people drive their cars? HOW???
So you can’t be funny unless you’re doing political satire or making fun of right-wing celebrities who say or do something stupid?
But the rest of the world has it wrong. I’m sure you’re right.
Seattle called. They’re calling bullshit on you.
Yeah, but I saw it in a movie theater. Not on television. But then I guess I saw it on TBS a while back, so maybe it got converted into a TV show.
You think that paying regular minimum wage for servers would cause a ten dollar increase in the cost of dishes? You have no idea how money works.
On the contrary, I don’t think most people know what they’re getting into when they start, because they start when they’re young and very stupid. I think we’ll soon have a generation of Internet Jackie Coogans and Mickey Rooneys telling us how early YouTube success ruined their lives.
But why is it called The Truman Show when it’s clearly a movie? Took me out of the story.
The big difference is that Truman never signed up to be a celebrity and have every facet of his existence broadcast to the outside world. He was the victim of a cruel, authoritarian system and when he found out he was horrified and tried to escape.
I think it’s interesting that the character is named “Truman,” as in “true man.” Pretty cerebral stuff.
It’s an absurd model. Pay people a living wage! I’m always shocked when I come over to the US. I pay standard tips because it’s practice, but that’s it. I always read the tip related articles because I don’t want to screw anyone over, but then I see comments like “well they fucked up and I got the wrong dish and…
I gotta say, having lived in both the US and Japan (where tipping isn’t part of the culture), I don’t really see any particularly good arguments for tipping. I’ve often heard the idea that tipping insures better service... but I’ve found that service in Japan tends to be, if anything, better than in the US. As for…
This is a hugely controversial ballot proposition in DC right now, requiring everyone be paid DC minimum wage rather than the tipped minimum wage. All of the restaurants near me have a voting no on taking away tips sign, but I live in a popular business district. Who the proposition really helps are the waitstaff at…
Can we just drop tipping and make restaurant owners pay their employees a living wage? Build it into the price of the menu items. When people no longer show up because their Olive Garden meal costs too much then we can adjust or eat at home. Tipping that is expected is a ridiculous model.
Fuck that. If anybody chased down a bunch of underemployed young people for a few percentage points on a tip to DEMAND they increase it, they are the real pieces of shit in this scenario.
Right? If I go to a shoe store I don’t tip the sales person even though they presumably did a bunch of general work setting up displays, working the till etc. and provided me with some direct service as well.
But isn’t the cost of the services mentioned built into the cost of the buffet price?
