Eh, Rihanna/Beyonce/Adele/Taylor Swift is a different level from Ariana, far above her (speaking not of like music quality). Rihanna is royalty at this point while Ariana is still a (wildly popular) upstart. Of her peer music generation, certainly there’s no comparison

you could just stop coming here, especially if you’re going to post irrelevant comments on random articles

Only the head, the shaft is bare. Bezos’ body is Yeti-esque.

We are living in a subplot of a Pynchon novel

A somewhat spiritual successor to King of the Hill with a stacked vocal cast? Yes please. Maya Rudolph alone is all I needed

I’m not sure how letting her be racist helps the left either but hey, you’re the one using the great shibboleth Oppression Olympics, so I don’t expect your comment was made in too much good faith

It’s related to it and stems from it, but the article’s thrust is still on Michelle Rodriguez’s foot-eating comments. It’s still not the main part which is what OP said

So, this isn’t about Neeson being racist and instead about Michelle Rodriguez sticking her foot in her mouth again. Hope your reading comprehension is fixed soon

Can gay hispanic men condemn her? Because it’s not just Sam.

Harvey Weinstein can’t be a misogynist. He loves them! Have you ever seen him make out with woman?

Not saying that Neeson is a racist or anything. Her argument is just very very bad

Soooo, this isn’t about Neeson being racist and instead about Michelle Rodriguez sticking her foot in her mouth again. Hope your reading comprehension is fixed soon.

Did he talk about his AV Club commenting habits?

And the issues were quickly cleared up and apologized for and fixed once attention was drawn to them. Didn’t get defensive and was pretty inclusive once people told him

Oh yeah, that’s some bullshit haha. Like yes, technically you are, but I’d also be eyerolling if when I said I’m a gay man, someone said no, you’re lgbt. Like...yes, but in the context that I’m using it, that’s not what I meant or wanted.

It’s not a topic I’m well versed in, so I try not to have too much of an e-ego of it. I don’t think I’d heard that not wanting to be called Latina vs Colombian sort of thing before, certainly like another country vs Colombian (insert stock Modern Family joke here) but I can’t immediately recall another time.

Ah, I think I get what you mean, especially the whole part about having an identity foisted upon her (and she’s actually from Colombia too so like despecifying that part of her and subsuming it into Latina would be like talking to a German emigrant and only call him a European). I still find Latinx/Latino/Latina useful

Oh true, I suppose that part will have to be left unknown then haha. I guess, as I mention in a different comment but will retype here since Kinja is the worst and its easier to have a conversation via replies, since I only read English, I only have seen Latinx in English articles/books. It is a valid (English)

...are you seriously saying “be happy for the representation even if it’s horrible”? If the only movie with black people was Gone With The Wind, would you be like “well, at least it brings slavery to people’s attention”?

Is there actually a substantial movement or group going in and “correcting” Spanish or Portuguese in that way? I read only English so I’ve only seen it in English contexts where Latinx makes 100% sense, specifically talking about the people. And normally the people that have used Latinx are themselves Spanish-speaking

The people who are shoehorning in the U.S-created construct speak Spanish. Their American-born Spanish is no less valid than a person born speaking it from Colombia or Spain or Honduras, just as Australian English is no less valid than American English. A native-born speaker can fuck with their language how they want,
