Shania’s First Nations heritage is about as real as Rachel Dolezal’s blackness. It’s not something you get by way of a step-parent.

Oh, yeah. I remember that. Back when she was just coming up in the mid-90s, she really played up her stepfather’s First Nations ancestry, which was the apparent source of her stage name. I never heard anything about that afterwards. I wonder what, if anything, she’s done in the years since to help First Nations/Native…
She was really wooden on RPDR, both in looks and in personality. She seemed stilted and emotionless.
“This is where I’m going to gently disagree - it’s really hard if you live in the USA, but IIRC she’s lived in Switzerland forever?”
Can we talk about how WEIRD her appearance on RPDR was? It seemed like she had never seen the show or heard of it!
Ancestry which she does not have and never had.
The same management that booked her on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” presumably
It takes some real effort to be that disengaged from substantive issues, not least because Twain has played up her Native American/First Nations ancestry in the past and 45 is really, really racist against Natives.
Gay Twitter is FURIOUS about this. If I were her PR person I would get a full-blown anxiety attack just scrolling through my feed.
So, she doesn’t endorse Trump but she would have voted for him if she could have?
I’m not surprised she likes Trump’s racism. Um, I mean, “honesty.” I am surprised that she has such a lack of understanding of the media and the current environment and how this would play out. I am surprised her publicist or manager didn’t intervene before the article got published.
I’m curious about who convinced Shania to walk back her extremely bad take so quickly.
“I am passionately against discrimination of any kind, but I will vote for it if it means I get a tax break.” Shania Twain would really like my dad!

Bipartisanship is inherently virtuous. We can’t be loony extremists and say all slavery is bad. We have to compromise with people who think slavery is good. That’s the only way to be a progressive who gets things done!
Politics are so partisan nowadays! We should meet in the middle about everything because balanced views are the healthiest to have. We can all agree to disagree! Let’s disagree that the Civil War was started over slavery versus state’s rights! Whatever! Facts don’t matter, both sides are equally bad!
I like how republicans will foam at the mouth about the thought of illegal immigration, because they’re not racist, you see, they just care about laws. We’re a nation of laws! We just don’t like people breaking the laws! Shoot them or treat them like shit, they deserve it for breaking laws! Same thing with cops…
When your back’s against the wall because all the illegal and immoral shit you’ve done has come to light and flimsy, irrational excuses won’t work, blame George Soros. You gotta love the classics.
Conservatives like it that way.
So at what point will Conservatives realize that Fox News is a state run propaganda machine? More importantly, that this is a bad thing to be?
