I respect your position. Myself, I couldn’t see myself being friends with anyone that cares that much. I have a three-syllable name and I’ve never been bothered by people shortening it, it seems like a small thing to be prickly about especially socially.

I had an ex named Elizabeth that tried to do that the first few times I met her. My argument was that everyone with three or more syllables is given a nickname at some point and I’d never met an exception.
