Well, with all of the awesome segment leaders Suzuki is currently offering in it's lineup, it's no wonder there's no room for them to bring over the Swift Sport...

5 hour rule!
Unfortunately, the us-spec e28 535is was still using the m30b34, which was rated for 182 hp. the closest thing you could get is an '88 / '89 635csi, which is on the e28 platform but received the m30b35. of course, there were only ~250 5 speeds sold
Seems that the GTI is a popular choice.
Wow, it's nice to see a concept car that's actually pretty, for a change. While the new styling direction on the XF/XJ/XK is great, I love the classic Jaguar that's resurfaced in this concept. I think it wouldn't be so bad if Jaguar relived some of it's historical design cues and put something like this into…
seems like the only way i can see replies is canadian jalopnik, but no - i'm in Houston, TX. Thanks for the complement! All the cars are works in progress, but I wanted to at least start with models that were worth rejuvenating. Good luck with your manual rack swap, it's something I might want to do someday as well!
Sorry, thanks to Jalopnik 5.0 just saw your reply... Anyway, The e24's steering is definitely a LOT heavier than either the Miata or the e30's steering (I own an '85 323i as well as the '90 Miata and '88 635csi), which makes sense because it's a recirculating ball steering box. With 170k miles, it's got a bit of…
Yeah, and most 'duhmestic and kraut fanboys' work at Toyota dealerships...
I'm actually more impressed that he was able to grab that image at 70ish mph within that tenth of a mile, and so clearly.
flyin' miata makes a supercharger kit for the NC, 5k gets you 240rwhp. surprisingly, soft-top versions of the car still only weigh in around 2400 lbs, so i'd say that'll beat the pants off a mazdaspeed NB.
Seems the guy owns an E28 M5. While I can't offer a completely direct comparison, I do own an e28 based 635csi as well as an NA Miata, and I can vouch for the fact that even with blown shocks, the Miata is at least an order of magnitude more response and precise than the BMW (which is running Bilsteins and has had…
In retrospect - we may not encounter this type of accident in Houston since most drivers wait at least 5 seconds after the light turns green to start driving, and most red-light running is not that egregious.
I personally dislike them because you lose the right to face your accuser. I got tagged the day after Houston voted them down because I rolled through a right on red when the roads were completely empty. If there was an officer instead of a camera, I likely could have talked him out of it, or he wouldn't have pursued…
And here's a critique of a similar study conducted by iihs in 2001 [www.motorists.org] - they clearly have a thing for traffic cameras and are glad to produce misleading studies that will attract sensationalist media attention.
Yes - we're all aware of just how unbiased the IIHS is... I believe a quick search shows several sites already picked this study apart, and person experience in Houston has taught me just how truly worthless these systems are.
@bygeorge: Ever seen a 9-5 SportCombi with 227k miles? I've had enough experience helping my friend keep his '03 9-5 running, and it hasn't even broken 100k yet. Add in the price of parts ($400 for a new throttle body was the most recent parts bill) and you've got an extremely expensive wagon that doesn't really…
@hmmcolor: They probably haven't optimized it for the EPA economy test yet. I'd be curious to here what real world numbers are.
Clearly this study is flawed in that my car would run much more efficiently on blood.
From the normal, non-car person point of view, I would say Elise is probably the craziest new car you can buy in the US.
