I thought working men these days wanted to drive Dodge Rams with heated steering wheels?

@CAJensen01: Well, at the very least they should wait until the engine warms up. Not sure if the gt-r has an oil temp gauge, but that's better to follow than coolant temp before you decide to hoon your expensive sports car.

@Baby beater Benz: Yup, it was pretty frickin' impressive. I never had a Fleetwood, but my L05 equipped Roadmaster wagon (only 5000 lb rating) did a pretty decent job towing my Miata 1600 miles from NY to TX. Not sure how well a Ford Freestyle or Toyota Highlander would have done on the same trip...

Um, also - how many of those comments amounted to "no thanks." it sure looked like a significant number to me

Sweet! Does this mean they're going to start manufacturing the E30 M3 again?

Pretty sure I've already seen surveys claiming Houston had the highest transportation cost per person out of any US city. Long commutes, heavy traffic and doing it all in a HD pickup will do that to ya!

@Drew and nøt U: That day already came and is still going on. It was called the SUV, and now the CUV, craze. Basically, most people bought things that looked like the retarded love child of a truck and a station wagon, when all they really needed was a station wagon, because they were all too insecure to drive

um, do i want that? I love wagons or wagon like hatches, but would much prefer a G8 based Roadmaster for Buick than an Astra based Excelle...

@buzz killington, uplift mofo party planner: yeah, well, when you have 4 cars, 2 motorcycles, no family and live in TX where it's never to cold to ride, you don't worry about that sort of thing too much :) Plus, you really don't have to spend much on a reliable, economical and utilitarian DD as long as you don't need

@buzz killington, uplift mofo party planner: yeah, I get that. For example - I think the Cobalt SS is a pretty neat car. Supposedly some pretty amazing track performance in a real sleeper package, and a fairly common and probably reliable, easy to work on driveline, all of which I find cool. However - going out and

hrmm, i don't think my "honeymoon period" has ever ended with a car, even the two that I've sold and still miss.

sigh, unfortunately, certain parts of Texas have much more draconian emissions laws than, say, that "liberal bastion" where I hail from, New York. I have to get all of my cars produced between 1985 and 1995 tail pipe tested in TX, whereas anything produced prior to 1995 and residing in NY gets away emissions test free

@Xenoxus: You should look up hot-rodded big rigs. Yeah, they're diesels, but those guys are running triple digit lbs of boost, which is usually good for a few thousand hp at pretty low revs

that's a little pricey, but for a nutria dash / buffalo leather interior, I'd say it might just be worth it for the right buyer. Euro E24s are definitely around, though, and I'd say that an E28 based euro 635 is potentially worth a bit less than an E12 based euro 635 with an M90 engine and dogleg gearbox. Still,

while this is a tragedy, I must say that this is how I'd like to go out, except replace Malibu with VFR and 100 mph with 150 mph.

Of course not.

Wow, that's one of the nicest looking designs to come out of BMW since... um, I guess the E39 (yikes, it's been a while!), although the giant chrome wheels still look pretty stupid. I do think that instead of spouting a stream of bullshit, BMW marketing should have just left it at "look, it doesn't suck!" It's a shame

@mytdawg: hey, you could have unbolted half the aircraft with that wrench! and, uh, maybe used it to drill out rivets a well?
