I think this is what makes this comic so good though. The freedom to retcon it all at the end means it can genuinely do whatever Hickman feels like doing, He can reset it all with Life 11 or let the next generation of writers do whatever they want with the concept going forward.

I find myself kind of puzzled and intrigued by this new Mandarin.

Interesting. You’d think that Phoenix would consider that DeNiro, of all actors, would accept any weird behavior. Like, DeNiro’s early career is marked by “strange” behavior on set so you think if anyone would get it, it would be him.

Why hold it together for DeNiro and not for anyone else?

If they dropped Godzilla in more comedies, would you learn about jokes?

I came for this comment. Thank you.
It’s slightly sad that Sam never goes home but it’s only because he wanted to keep helping people, and now had more control over his leaps so he could keep on going or go home whenever he wanted to.

It’s meant to be tragic but in a heroic way.

Sidenote: The show basically says that our

You touch on something really interesting in the article. I hadn’t thought about it before when it comes to adaptations but the age of the cast and crew is probably a huge factor in getting adaptations right. Probably even the age of the execs in the various studios.

A lot of past adaptations would have been relying on

“Wake up, Mareeple!” is the best thing I’ve read all year.

You ever see that episode of Extreme Ghostbusters where they go inside the big basement storage device? It’s pretty crazy in there.

I’ve been having a weird time with this one since seeing it last night.

I don’t know about the taped windows but, having been by the Marvel Studios offices (and I literally mean ‘by’ them, as in outside but never inside), this seems like pretty standard stuff.

I worked in an advertising agency that kept competing banks on different floors and behind doors with access cards. It was a way to

With the comics, go back and check out New X-Men by Grant Morrison and various artists (three tps) or the run after, Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday (4 tps, iirc), or a relatively recent run (that maybe requires a little more explanation), Uncanny X-Men by Kieron Gillen, Carlos Pacheco & others

I should add that they also really stress nailing the stories before really going whole hog into production. Animation takes so long and costs so much, it makes sense. If only live-action blockbuster productions took the same time to tighten the stories up before going into production (although I suppose the stresses

I was lucky enough to spend 10 days at the Disney lot about a month or so back (and got to attend the Zootopia premiere to boot). We were around specifically to get insight into their film making process and this captures it pretty damn accurately. Research. Research. Research. Testing. More research.

Yeah, Peter David did a story in Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man involving a murderous Uncle Ben from an alternate reality. And then that book got cancelled before he picked the thread back up.

I avoided as many rumors and spoilers as I could in the lead-up to the film’s release, but now that I’ve seen it and I get to read these... man, this is a good example of people hearing little hints of plot points or beats and then imagining them into weird combinations or new directions.

Me and some buddies hosted a screening last night and you know what really stuck out to me on this rewatch? Ian McDiarmid really is the MVP on this one. Like, the guy does an absolutely fantastic job of making the Emperor seem like a threat even though he spends the majority of his screen time talking menacingly.

I remember reading a rumor that Marvel decided not to use characters spinning out of Truth in their regular universe books. Possibly because of an arrangement with the writer of the original series. It’s why we don’t see the Eli Bradley Patriot or Josiah X anywhere, and there hasn’t been any mention of Isaiah Bradley

They’re playing off the whole “Peter and Spidey are buddies” thing from the Stan Lee/Steve Ditko days. It was established a while back that Peter makes all of Spidey’s tech, web and costumes.

Dude! Exactly!!!!

“or an Apple fan as fannatic as a Taliban.”
Man. The Taliban? Remember those guys? References to their organization are so rare these days that this feels like even more of a time capsule than the anti-iPod comments imply.
