You raise a good point. What about if the system searches for the fuel map upon activation, and copies to internal memory, then erases is upon sensing a shutdown?
How about just using the Raspberry Pi as the ECU, and keeping the fuel map on the USB drive? Then you can have two layers of security.
For certain services, it can be cheaper to go to the dealer. e.g. From Toyota, oil changes can be a ton cheaper if the car requires 0W20 oil. Toyota dealerships can get that stuff in bulk. Not like pallets of bottles, but as in a tanker comes in and fills a big tank of it.
