Those things aren’t mutually exclusive though. And if anything, her comments disregarding the pain and trauma of victims contribute to an environment where it’s harder for victims to come forward and share their stories. Letting her comments slide makes it harder for victims.

How does talking about what Streisand said in anyway take away from past and present victims?

A Star is Born Stupid

Wow. Used to think highly of this woman. Now I think she is a turd.

Hollywood really is full of immoral degenerates.

So the sequence of events is:

It’s been my experience that if you stay long enough in Poundtown, you end up in Dripping Springs

hmmmmm, While you can argue that now the MCU requires a lot of info to jump into(kinda gotta watch a lot of other movies). Ironman definetly stands alone and doesn’t require any knowledge of the character or world. Neither did Thor or Captain American. That’s sorta why the MCU worked and took off and have become

You would.

I just don’t see how Julianne Moore could fit the role without the use of prosthetics. It’s like if when they made Monster they thought it was crazy that Theron wanted to change her look.

Yeah I think Moore and Holofcener both had good points. Moore wanted to actually resemble the person she’s studied and is supposed to portray, hence the suit and prosthetic. Holofcener doesn’t want the distractions that can come with all that, so she just hired somebody else, McCarthy, who is obviously talented enough

Resembling the character that she’s portraying can be important for both a realistic effect and also for the actress herself, embodying the role she has researched and studied. I mean, look at Christian Bale or Bryan Cranston when they played Cheney and LBJ respectively. Bale went through (another) wild body

Even Bale was kind of pissed when he learned about Gary Oldman’s fatsuit after he had already fattened up for Vice. Fatsuits and prosthetics have reached a realism today where an actor doesn’t really need to go through such extreme physical changes anymore.

What’s the problem, exactly? Actors routinely use prosthetics, makeup, and post-production to change their appearance.

And don’t call it “fat-phobic.” She was being asked to play someone with a different body type than her, and the options were either to pretend that Lee Israel was skinny (which would be fat-phobic,

Blade Runner is one of the most influential and beloved American films of the last fourty years, even though it was a flop at the box office and panned by many critics at the time. Porkys, released in the same year, outgrossed Blade Runner fourfold, and on a fraction of the budget.

She was hired to play a role as a woman she looked nothing like. Maybe she wanted to look more like that woman.

Moore’s co-star from The Hours won an Oscar with a fake nose.

I hope it has a train line, so folks from neighboring towns can honestly and legitimately say, when someone asks about their weekend plans, that they’re catching the 9:15 to Pound Town.

Dripping Springs is both quaint and oddly evocative.

That’s nice, though I still think that name sounds a little off-color.
