The 911 had a torsion bar rear suspension from 1963-1989. It accumulated most of its victories during that timeframe. Nothing wrong with that variant of independent rear suspension.

No. It’s winning record in everything from roadracing, rally, and drag racing means it was not flawed. The 911’s record of victory speaks for itself. The rear weight bias is why it was able to accumulate those wins. If average people who can’t drive hurt themself in it, then oh well.
It’s huge amount of wins by definition mean it was not a flawed product. Saying “from the beginning it was a flawed product” is just an emotional declaration with no evidence to support it. It’s commonly alleged “engineering defect” the rear engine design, is the precise reason it was so successful.
