@ludwigk: Or MRI machines, EKGs, and other medical equipment.

@descendency: Spectrum is free man. It's just there in the air. It's a motherfucking miracle.

@Edix: Not only is this true for just about every manufactured good in the US, but where exactly do you think we're going to mine the amounts of iridium we need in the US? These are very rare minerals we're dealing with man. You literally have to wait for them to fall out of the sky.

@mbhnyc: Yea. I wager some minerals you really just can't get conflict free. Not affordably anyway.

@Andyr2120: HAM radio is still there isn't it?

@XtremeCamera: I guess the idea of someone who can summon so much hatred over a brand having friends is a bit far fetched.

@zelannii: This is starting to remind me of disease panics in the third world where all kinds of rumors start circulating about how they spread and how to cure them.

@YouISee: You know what's even better? A replacement gorilla glass panel for the back glass costs about $16 and some change. With labor it's probably like $25-$30 to replace it. Call it the "clumsy oaf" tax.

@zelannii: I've heard it's dependent on the capacitance of the user's skin. Supposedly some people can trigger the issue easily and others can't even on the same device.

@zelannii: Farmville is already out I think. I remember seeing it in the app store yesterday.

@KingKash: Sorry but the assurances of someone on the internet that he asked around don't hold much water. I also don't think you're getting the point. I'm telling you that the how the device detects changes in the state of the hardware is based on software. If it's a software issue that means hands on the phone

@murphadurpha: Every single one? Most reviewers have been struggling to replicate the issue. The guys at Ars were deliberately trying to hold it at odd angles and were licking their fingers to increase moisture. . .

@NuevoLeon: In 5 years or so Android will be either overloaded with cruft and possibly spyware or Google or hardware manufacturers will have to start locking down parts of the system for people who aren't rooting it.

@NuevoLeon: As a Mac user, whenever someone buys an Apple product for the first time I say "Welcome to the cult brother."

@talkingstove: I think the point is that every phone has this problem. The Nexus One has it too. As does my 3G.

@XanderCrews: The only valid EVO concern I've heard so far is the abysmal battery life. Maybe the touchscreen is an issue, it's hard to say because bloggers, from whom I hear this news, generally tend not to have a very good sense of perspective.

@Eric Scheller: There was some rumor that a few batches of them shipped without some kind of coating on the antenna. Not sure how true it is because everyone's too busy in schadenfreud induced stupor to bother getting to the bottom of it.
