Totally agree with you. I’m surprised that more people aren’t considering this as the likely cause of the speech problem. My immediate thought was that some form of dental work wasn’t agreeing with his tongue, and vice versa.

I think that’s exactly what he’s saying...as if that’s something that has been literally or hypothetically said toward him in the past. I believe those last two sentences should be in sub-quotes, or something.
