Disputing Scheier’s characterization of Levine as an “auteur” does not mean you “took the exact position of Schreier.”

You literally agree with every of Schreier’s postions, just softening the tone. In what way is that “the exact opposite”?

I’m sorry, but this is simply not true. It’s like saying Deus Ex could’ve been made without Warren Spector or Mario without Miyamoto just because they didn’t make those games by themselves. It’s silly.

They were the Creative Directors, that means that every desicion of what’s in the game, is their desicion. Yeah, there

I agree with you. True auteurs (in the sense that they’re directly dictating everything the audience experiencing) are exceedingly rare in any medium, even more so in videogames, and it’s logistically impossible with games of bioshock’s size. It just seemed like the article had an “also he’s a hack” bone to pick that

Whole lotta sniping at the artistic ability of the creator of one of the most celebrated video games of all time from a, um, *checks notes* blogger copy and pasting someone else’s reporting?

Bro, that’s just not true. Your perception of how much cheating there is, is absolutely into the realms of wild paranoia.

Hey if you didn’t like this article, kotaku has about 25 Squid Game listicles and loosely related clickbait stories.

I for one love it when reviewers rant about their personal healthcare issues for half of the review.

But it was made by two Brazilian transfolk, that’s what most important about this game. Lol

Buddy.

Just take the L. It happens

Well, when it says review in the title you expect a review.

I’m with them, I got to the meds and insurance bit and stopped for a second and said to myself, “what am i reading?”. I don’t have context for this and literally the next paragraph transness is mentioned, which I also thought was a weird word choice and

Judging by the votes and comments on this article, the majority of people reading game reviews are here to learn about the game, and not the author. There is a place for this article (blog post), and it is not in the game reviews section.

You think maybe “the gamers are upset” because this is advertised as a game review, but is actually a clickbait title and amateurish blog post?

Yeah, articles like this have a place on Kotaku, just not as *reviews*.

I appreciate this as a good bit of writing. But with respect:

You need to speak in a way G/O understands if you want them to listen. Here, let me translate for you:

I’ve noticed the same at a lot of GO sites. Missing links, captions without images, more typos than usual...

Sorry to be That Guy, but what has happened to the editing process at Kotaku as of late? Is it G/O cuts? Kinja jank? Both? So many pieces get published lately where you scan it for 30 seconds and you’re like oh wow, this is completely scuffed.
