Yeah, I thought this one did quite well by Patrick. It wasn't just about him having awkward dates, it was about him being focused on achieving something and pretty much succeeding at the end, instead of floundering.

Yeah, uh, from my experience (and some people I've spoken to), I don't think the threesome was unrealistically contrived. Not everyone arranges their threesomes two weeks in advance via Grindr.

I like their scenes, but I want Doris to be a bit more than 'Dom's best friend'. I get that there might not be enough time to give her an actual sub-plot, but all their conversations seem to revolve around Dom and Dom's problems, which seems a bit one-sided and unrealistic for such a lived-in friendship.

Okay, fair enough, I had forgotten about that.

Pretty random. Of course I just checked it out on IMDb and was like 'also featuring Star Trek album Malcolm McDowell and… Iggy Pop!'

Some also say maybe there was a sexual harassment thing with a producer as well, who was gone by the time she came back. (Maurice Hurley's name was mentioned somewhere). But also, Muldaur was only credited as a 'Special Guest Appearance' anyway so they probably hadn't thought that far ahead about whether to make her a

I like this thinking.

Anyone else think Kira's hair is at it's best in season 7?

I agree. I get the issues with Dax's slightly unheroic death by a 'sudden bad guy' (which is reminiscent of Yar), but the thing they did RIGHT, as ever in DS9, is show the aftermath and the consequences. It hit the characters, it was mentioned, it was something they had to deal with going forward. Yar isn't mentioned

Eh. I loved Cube, which is the only other thing I've seen her in, but I don't think she was that great in it. I never minded Ezri, though.

I liked the premiere but haven't been overly keen on the last two episodes… there's a few chuckles in there but quite a few flat one-liners, which is similar to what I found during season 4. Eh, hoping it improves.

Pretty excited. I did think the first half of the season had some issues with aspects of the dialogue and such seeming a bit too serious and on-the-nose for it's own good and the plotting a bit messy (Oeuf, in particular, was a rather weak episode). But it really picked up in the final half and seemed a lot more

I think my favourite was: "Archer. I'd rather LOSE the baby.'

I know right. The fact it was filmed makes me hope it'd be included on BD releases, as the TNG ones have featured deleted scenes and one extended episode (Measure of a Man). That's assuming DS9 even GETS a BD release, done in the same way as TNG.

I can't remember much about P&L but I rewatched Threshold recently and it's HILARIOUS. Especially the ending, which essentially goes: 'Captain, I'm sorry I turned you into a lizard and raped you' - 'don't be so hasty Mr Paris - Sometimes it's the female who initiates the mating.'

Exactly, this. But it didn't seem like the writers were actively trying to portray a dysfunctional couple, they just could write the relationship in the first place. I just don't believe it. I always bought the unrequited thing Odo had for Kira up until season 6, and even though them getting together wasn't great, I

I agree with you as far as this episode goes, and that Trek treats its female character pretty poorly, but I'm curious as to which other occasions you felt the writers 'twisted her out of shape' as the show went on? She's always been the best-written female character in Trek as far as I'm concerned and whilst she was

Good to know. I'll get to properly watching ENT at some point. At the moment my clearest memory of her character is her not wanting to eat with her hands, and the ridiculous vapo-rub scene.

A shame because most of the Bajor/Kira/Cardassia stuff was the best stuff in the first 2 seasons, for my money.

"This is the first fully realized female lead a Trek show has ever given us."
