Came looking to confirm a naturally aspirated RWD 6-cylinder mid-range model, leaving quite disappointed.

Less THIS Rolls-Royce, more just A Rolls-Royce. The Silver Shadow is just the only one in the price range.
Behind the curve indeed. I just shelled out $3,100 for a front suspension rebuilt. My mechanic said he’d never seen ball joints so worn and control arms in such a state still doing their job. I’m still up for front brakes, a flush of the hydraulic fluid in the suspension, the dreaded valve cover gaskets and my…
Yes she is pretty and I appreciate the thought...but a C-Class? Really? You couldn’t find me a blond with an E500 4Matic wagon, eh?
Maybe on an S500 with a V8 and airmatic coilpacks are $900. On the V12 they’re $1,500. Airmatic struts cost $1,500. V12 S600s have ABC (active body control suspension) which is hydraulic, like a Citroen DS. And with proper preventative maintainance, we don’t really require our struts to be replaced.
A steering wheel cover on a car that already has a leather wrapped wheel never bodes well...
Mr. One-dude-in-your-class is a smart and responsible S600 owner. Best he delay himself in winter so he may have a car in good working order in the summer months. Remember, he’s got 9.5 quarts of Mobile 1 Ow40 to get heated up to appropriate opreating temperature and viscosity.
I bought mine for $9,999 with 117,000 on the clock. $8,000 strikes me as a little cheap. Maintainance is as bad as any other car and the suspension is a matter of regular maintenance when it’s working, not playing catch up after your shocks have been leaking and you’ve burnt out the $5,000 hydraulic pump trying to…
Everywhere else on Jalopnik, the answer may always be Miata. But here, in Ebay Challenge Land, the answer is always W220 S600.
That profile...the front looks like Audi, the middle looks like an S-Class with a little Flying Spur thrown in, and that back end is a little S-Class and a little XJ...and that horrible gawpping Genesis grille on the front.
I’m frankly shocked that the “Donk” in general has not made this list. Seriously. Try finding a stock Fleetwood, Caprice, or Roadmaster in good condition with low miles that hasn’t already been scooped up and had this done to it.
It’s a V8 though, right? V12 Centuries aren’t importable under the 25 year rule yet. Won’t be till 2022.
Who, what, when, where, why, and how the hell did they get away with this!? They’re not even Lincolns! They’re Fords! And not even LTDs! Grenada’s forchristssake!A confounded and damnable Fairmont for all intents and purposes, European Sport Sedan package or no. No wonder these couples who were paid to own both are…
Well, a 996 is the unpopular version with runny egg headlights that nobody wants. And the Turbo version doesn’t have IMS issues and Tavarish has posted 911 Turbo’s as the best 911 value for money about 47 times prior to today. So the right answer is obviously a 996 911 Turbo. Turbo cabrio, actually. One of the only…
Wouldn’t it be the adoption of a one size fits all approach to luxury across the entire global market due to overcompetitiveness? Cadillac and Lincoln start losing customers and instead of updating the lineup, they throw it all away and start from scratch in the image of BMW and Audi. Those were the most popular…
What about a used car? I was refused service at the Lincoln main dealer on multiple occasions for air suspension issues. I dropped the car off, and the next day the service manager called me and said they hadn’t even looked at it. All of the mechanics were claiming ignorance of how it worked and refusing to even look…
It’s slotting in somewhere between the A6/5-Series/E-Class and the A8/7-Series/S-Class segments? I want to like this car. I really really want to feel like I could buy a Cadillac again. A turbo 4-banger in something this size? I don’t care if it’s lighter than a 5er. It’s not even launching with a V8! I mean COME ON!…
As a W220 owner and therefore expert, with ownership of a website which does include some DIY information for the vehicle; your assignment is to give me detailed step by step instructions on how to flush my suspension system and replace both filters without a hydraulic lift or a factory diagnostic computer so I don’t…
Honestly, if I had $40,000 to spend on a car. I’d buy one of these and spend $35,000 on the maintainance. I’ve always wanted to know what living with one was like...you know, for like a year before that repair budget was completely blown.
If I wanted to buy a car that should have depreciated more than it has by now, I’d buy this:
