God damn it all, there are way too many awesome ghost types in this game. How am I going to pick the right one for my team?

Thinking like that is part of why Trump was elected. Believe it or not, calling people racist doesn’t make them any more likely to vote for your candidate.
As far as republicans go, Trump’s actually one of the better ones. As a person, he’s a horrible man, but his policies are constantly only as bad or better as other major republicans, discounting shit like the wall that just obviously won’t happen.
This. Hillary spent way too much time trying to make people hate Trump, and no where near enough trying to get them to like her.
Why not both? If the democrats didn’t have their head up their asses for the past year, they would have seen what was going on and tried to stop it by trying to win over Trump supporters. Instead, she and her supporters either ignored or antagonized anyone who supported Trump.
Alternatively, fuck Hillary for not recognizing Sanders suporters hated her and doing more to court them instead of focusing her energy on attacking Trump. Something like a socialist VP would have done wonders for Hillary to win back the voters she lost to Sanders, but instead, she picked Tim Kaine.
Also, Fuck Hillary, and Fuck the DNC. Trump should have lost. Just about everyone hated him, hated his ideals, and hated his messages. It should have been an easy win for whoever ran against him. But it wasn’t, and a lot of that is because Hillary and the DNC just fucked everything up.
Well that’s one nice thing about all of this I guess.
Remember that when you reach for the stars, they’re too far away, so it’s hopeless. And if you do ever manage to reach one, it would just burn your hand clean off.
Those were my thoughts too. Not to make light of the situation, because things are going to get pretty bad for a bunch of people, but it’s also not the end of the world. Taxes will be cut for people who aren’t us, undocumented immigrants will be deported and refugees refused entry, trade deals and treaties will be…
The dinosaurs are dying out, but they’re taking the rest of us with them.
Can anyone explain to me how pretty much everyone was so wrong? All the major analysts were predicting a Hillary win at around 90%. Even if she wins now (not impossible since she’s favored in the west coast where votes haven’t been tallied yet), this is a lot closer than anyone thought.
It was a few things, but basically yeah. RS published an article, a whole slew of things happened that should have set off alarm bells in their mind, but instead of retracting it, or even just letting it be, they doubled down, republished it, and started telling every media outfit who would listen how totally true the…
Except things have changed with regards to the formula they used to determine where the special provisions were in effect: It’s been illegal to use a test or device to restrict voter eligibility for over half a century now. Section 4(b) placed provisions based partially on whether an area had used a “test or…
You’re asking them to prove a negative: that they wouldn’t discriminate if they hypothetically had the power to, which they didn’t because of the VRA. It’s not possible to prove that things have changed unless you give them that power, and you won’t give them the power until they can prove that things have changed.
50 years is a long time. Even if things haven’t changed, I’m in favor of at least checking every so often, instead of deciding that they never have and never will. The fact that congress hasn’t figured out a new metric using more current data is on them, but it doesn’t make the court’s decision wrong.
Then congress should figure out a new test to apply them using current data, instead of information from the 60's.
The voting rights act, in general, forced fair elections in all areas by preventing any voting law that results in discrimination against racial or language minority. That part of the VRA is still in effect. On top of that though, there were special provisions which only effected certain areas, which were found to…
Part of it needs to be a shift in cultural attitudes towards young women. They need to be taught to stand up for what they feel they deserve. It’s not all women not asking for raises/negotiating poorly though. Some of it is that a lower value is placed on women in the workplace because they may, eventually, take time…
Our GDP (PPP) per hour worked is still higher than France’s, even though we work more hours: http://www.bls.gov/ilc/intl_gdp_capita_gdp_hour.htm
