I remember that law. I thought they were upfront about the reason being that it atracted homeless people to sleep in people’s crawlspaces and shit, but that might just been an editorial I read about it explaining the real reason for the law.

They offered her probation, which is basically no penalty at all, but she refused and insisted on going to court.

Sounds like they tried to give her a slap on the wrist as long as she didn’t cause trouble for them or waste state money, but she refused, and insisted on causing a fuss. Personally, I’m all for the government making sure people aren’t selling contaminated food. I like knowing that what I buy isn’t going to kill me.

You’re right when you say they weren’t intending to be nice and polite. Nothing you said would have gotten through to them, so the best response is whatever made you feel best. If yelling at them made you feel better, then that was the right thing to do.

It sounds like a few drivers were going out of their way to elongate routes by as much as five times , but you’re right that there couldn’t have been very many of them for the average to come out at only 5% more.

In other countries, it’s perfectly normal for a kid to live with their parents for quite some time if they’re not living with a partner or spouse. I’ve always thought our culture of encouraging you to leave the house as soon as possible to be a little strange.

I’d recommend a warning first, but it depends on the severity of the jokes/if they’re directed at any homosexuals/women in particular, and whether or not they cross the line into flat out harassment.
