The CTS actually sold far better for two generations as an in-betweener than it has as a direct 5/E competitor. I’m sure GM would love to see a return to those in-betweener sales figures.

None of those cars are what I’d call “good crossovers.” The Niro is a lifted hybrid. The Cube, xB, and Soul are boxy hatchbacks with zero off-road pretensions, much like the Niro and CH-R.

Which modern crossovers don’t offer AWD?

/thread

Only the RAV is a crossover.

The Rancho didn’t even have AWD available. Not a great crossover in that sense.

Thing is, in 2008 when gas prices skyrocketed to record levels, most people were trading in V8 and V6 midsize SUVs that struggled to hit 20mpg.

The reason liftbacks tend to get wipers and fastback sedans don’t is likely due to it being easier to mount a wiper motor to a hatch than a rear bulkhead where the decklid can interfere and luggage can damage it.

Design is unlikely as the main reason. Most other cars lack it for one main reason: cost. Another: complexity from either needing two washer bottles or stringing washer fluid lines the length of the car. And you need a decklid that will open at an angle that won’t interfere with the wiper arm. And the wiper motor

Or the Isuzu Impulse.

The Opels aren’t getting the V6, though.

No, the point is that Buick and Opel have been joined on product development for years, to the point where they brought their personnel to each other’s respective offices to solidify the link.

Adams was until fairly recently the design director for Buick.

Yeah, still doesn’t tell us who specifically designed the car - whether they were American, German, British, Australian, or a combination of all. It still didn’t tell us how much the car was designed for American and Australian specifications from the outset, rather than adapted for those markets after the fact. And

How exactly does that address the questions of contributions to vehicle development I asked?

With the old Regal, it’d be totally understandable to invoke Opel. That car was supposed to be a Saturn and its branding changed once Saturn got dumped.

Ah yes, it’s an Opel.

Remember 2010?

100% THIS. Dems had zero idea how deeply hated Clinton is by anyone who has any GOP history or inclinations.

LA, NYC, and Chicago are, even with their more conservative metro areas, less than 10% of the population.
