The beauty of private industry doing things better, faster, and cheaper....

I’ve owned several manual cars in recent years:

Sure, if you’re given enough reaction time to figure it out. In panic situations, that logic can get short-circuited

Anyone who thinks this is evidence of senility or lack of skill would do well to listen to Malcolm Gladwell’s podcast about this very phenomenon.

Nope. Not at all. Pedal misapplication between accelerator and brake can and does happen on manual transmission cars, too.

Pretty sure the broad and mobile 4,000lb brick is what actually killed people, though.

Too

Malcolm Gladwell has an excellent podcast episode about this very issue. “Human factors” and ergonomics are fascinating.

I’m aware that the EU version had different bumpers. I’m aware of why, though I disagree that it was about protectionism. Insurance companies were lobbying congress for years to change the laws to reduce vehicle repair costs.

To each his own.

Did you read the tweet?

Your eyesight has defied age and improved. The R129 was always a beautifully understated car with presence.

You love the Seville or the Gucci Seville specifically?

Take a clean, sharp, and tastefully restrained and avant-garde ‘70s Cadillac Seville. Then let Aldo Gucci vomit all over the inside and outside of it.

My Mom has one. Her personality is exactly as you’d expect.

Absolutely. 100% agreed.

THIS.

There’s a bit of a misnomer there. The 20 million sales figure tracking with population doesn’t account for used cars being able to last longer. If you look at our vehicle fleet size in proportion to our population, we’re at just about exactly the same level we were in 1999 and 2000.

What are you talking about? We already have a gas tax.

No, I said car sales hit new records the last few years.
