For the sake of argument, let’s ignore that this was in an empty parking lot at 2 am. Is this type of reaction that’s warranted for illegal parking?

The field that I know best is history. that said, most of the social sciences and humanities fields operate in a fairly similar manner. I have never heard of this person or his work. I generally don’t read studies that rely so heavily on mathematical and statistical modeling (though I do read a bunch of economic…
It used to, but since the turn of the millennium, as federal and state education funding was slashed by Republicans, colleges and universities have increasingly turned to a “business-first” model, hiring more administration and running academia in a for-profit manner. What happens then, is that what’s coming in ($$$)…
They always need a whole team (5 - 6 cops?) to violate a single black mans rights. (a bunch of cowards)
Thank you, thank you for pointing this out. Could someone please write an article about this angle, because perhaps people who lack basic moral decency will be motivated to care about what is happening to their money:
He probably brings in grant money, which is all the university cares about.
The moment Sterling Brown was telling the man his name and the man was pretending he wasn’t answering the question, you knew this would be the outcome. The part about the moon/mars/venus alone should result in this man being fired. Completely unacceptable.
Police instructor analyzes video of the arrest:
“Internal discipline IS.NOT.ENOUGH”
He didn’t even need a ticket. Anybody would park like that because it makes perfect sense at 2 am in an empty parking lot. Who cares if it was sloppy? It was harassment from the start. Nasty cops circling around him, licking their lips, looking forward to some violence.
This seems like a really easing firing that’s not happening. It’s not just excessive force, but lying in the police report. That’s often a bigger offense to departments than the abuse of the use of force. So, let the union file a grievance or whatever, but at least you’ve won the PR battle in the bigger war right out…
Here’s a measured response for these officers: handcuffs, taser, jail cell. Then gen pop can take care of the rest.
That Milwaukee Police Department officer is a criminal. That one too. and that one and that one.....
You have to love the chief’s response. These officers were “disciplined” for their actions. What does that mean? Paid leave for a week or two? That’ll show them! That will certainly make a difference the next time they roll up on a black person while begging for the flimsiest excuse to assault them. You could…
The NBAs players have always been vocal on issues of race, and yet the NBA is still watched by white supremacists like the maga hat guy who wanted LeBrons sweaty towel. So fuck the NFL for suggesting that they’re just trying to appease their racist white fans. Those fans would have kept watching even if you’d elected…
Dear Taxpayers of Milwaukee.
The trolls/assholes always pull the “what if” or the “should have” cards to justify the actions of the police, completely divorcing from the fact that we can clearly see in the video that at no point was Sterling Brown acting in anyway to warrant a takedown and tasering from the police, much less have 5+ police cars…
protect and serve.
That young man’s face after they stood him back up again will haunt me for a long time.
Not only is this disgusting, but I’m blown away by the sheer volume of the cops presence. There are like 8 cops for a parking ticket. As usual crackas(again trolls I’m not gonna stop using it so leave me the fuck alone) come to the defense of the cops on Twitter even when it’s plain as day they are assaulting him,…
