I think given how long it’s been since we’ve last seen the character, there would be plenty of room for him to ‘reinvent’ Short Round in some capacity and let his natural charm serve as the obvious link. If not for the fact that everyone would know it’s him, I’d almost even have him running around using another name

The closest thing I had to a serious complaint about Everything Everywhere All at Once was how angry it made me that Hollywood has slept on Ke Huy Quan all these years.

In addition to what other people have said about tricks with clothing, Aldi is one of those chains that makes you pay for bags, which means there’s a lot of empty boxes floating around so you can put your groceries in those to put in your car. I imagine there’s a lot of little tricks you can do with that to hide a

I can’t remember where I read this, but I know I read somewhere once that there’s some chemical benefit to getting a little bit of water in your whiskey, something about the dilution emphasizing certain compounds over others and affecting the flavor experience — one of the reasons why scotch and soda is so popular.

I could be wrong, but I believe it’s intended to mean that she has the sort of butt stereotypically associated with African-American women.

I can see that. A downside of it being 100% canon is that it means all that tedious stuff with the Hand still went down.

Yup, same. I wonder if this is something more common with a chain we don’t have where I’m at.

With regards to how ‘essential’ things are, I tend to look at Phase 4 the way we look at Phase 1: beginning a larger arc and setting up a status quo. I think for now they’re playing it fast and loose and we’ll start seeing things snap into place once we have some big tentpole crossover and things move into Phase 5.

Yup. I’m blanking on the exact quote, but it could be summed up as ‘the Netflix shows are basically canon, but don’t expect every individual little detail to still hold up.’ Basically giving Marvel Studios some wiggle room if they want to ignore a subplot or recast a character or something.

My barista swears he doesn’t use TikTok. “That’s, like, the social media thing, right?”

I looked through the comments on the trailer and had a bit of a gut punch moment where someone posted that he was hoping to get to see this because he’s got stage 4 cancer and isn’t sure he’ll be able to hold out until the release. And then I scrolled down in the thread a bit and saw that Kevin Smith himself, having

By all accounts, he is actually a pretty good dude and genuinely appreciative of his fans. But he does his best stuff when he gets personal with it (Chasing Amy, Dogma, Clerks 2) as opposed to just getting really high and coming up with an idea he can use to justify getting a studio to pay him to hang out with his

It’s not amazing, but I unironically enjoyed it. The View Askewniverse characters were a big part of my pop culture landscape at an important time in my life, and getting to spend an hour and a half with them again was something I needed without realizing it I needed it. To be fair, there’s a lot about it that doesn’t

I don’t think this is him trying to be ‘meta’ in the same way he was with Reboot, because while I don’t know his original planned plot for Clerks 3, I know it was a lot different before he had his heart attack. Reboot was trying to poke fun at Hollywood, even if he spent too damn long poking fun at himself. Kevin

You, um, have fun with that. I guess.

I live in an area where people think covering a steak sandwich with fries is haute cuisine. If I had to choose between Subway and a Primanti Bros (a regional chain and the closest thing we have to a ‘local sandwich shop’ around here unless you count Sheetz which is literally regional chain of gas stations), I’ll stick

Yeah, I spoke badly. What I mean is that when people sit around drinking Bud Light all day, they’re rarely thinking “Oh boy, Bud Light!” But when they’re sitting down to dinner, the Bud Light is likely to be more of a deliberate choice than “eh, it’s what’s in the fridge.”

Yeah, I said that badly. I think a better way to express the thought I was having is that nobody’s eager to sit around drinking Bud Light. Bud Light’s convenient for it, but people don’t plan their day around drinking it specifically. But someone might deliberately choose Bud Light over something ostensibly better if

I realize I worded that badly, and I’ll accept the dunce cap for it. What I mean is that when people sit around drinking Bud Light, the very fact that it’s Bud Light isn’t the highlight of the experience.

I learned that lesson quickly myself. I used to save a couple for just if I wound up needing ice packs, but the packaging they’re in doesn’t hold up forever. But my regular box comes the day after I take out the trash, so now I set them aside just in case and toss them the following week.
