I’ll give you ‘nothing unique or catchy in theme or decor,’ but having been in a couple of other First Watch locations, I think the darkness is more your local thing. The ones I’ve been in, while not fancy, have been bright and cozy at least.

I’ve been slowly catching up, but I really didn’t enjoy this one much. I don’t know if it’s Covid filming or what, but this episode felt really disjointed, like 2/3 of the characters aren’t particularly interested in the plot at all. To me, Behrad’s “Shaggy from Scooby-Doo except they can actually call him a stoner”

That’s fair. It’s kind of just falling into that ‘wistful nostalgia’ zone for me, if that helps.

He’s mostly been relegated to doing commercials.

While I haven’t done so, I’ve had pizza I’d drive that fast to get home if I had to. It was a local-ish place called Pizza Plus far enough outside of town that they wouldn’t actually deliver anyplace in-town; their customer base were all people in between these two small cities, far enough out where other pizza places

I think a big part of what was driving the absurd speculation was the industry of YouTube videos where people spitball random theories and comic trivia for twenty minutes, knowing full well they don’t have to be right, they just have to hold your attention long enough for the click to count for their ad revenue. If

Personally, I think it would have been worse if they’d tried to take a more comics-accurate version of Taskmaster and grafted them onto the Red Room. But maybe they’ll do something with this version of the character down the road and we’ll see Antonia develop from a blank slate into someone a little closer to the

That scene really messed me up too, when I was a kid. For a long time I had to look away when they pan over for the reveal.

Arguably, the best way to save the world from Wild Wild West would be to get the insane Kevin Smith-Nic Cage Superman movie to go off. Then the one producer would have gotten the ‘giant spider robot’ thing out of his system and he could go do something else instead.

Man, I wonder what could possibly have gotten HBO Max so very concerned about adapting a book and moving beyond the original source material...

This reminds me of once, some years ago, I was over at a friend’s house and we ordered a pizza and the usual guy who delivered to my home saw me there and was surprised, and he was wondering if I’d moved or something.

The fries weren’t too bad

That’s fair. It’s just that a lot of people in the fandom, even all these years later, talk about it like they were personally strapped to a chair and bombarded with it Clockwork Orange-style. That’s more what I was referring to.

Who else here kept expecting Jack to suddenly reveal that he was faking his injury and this was just a really meta bit?

I will say there’ve been a lot of entry points for folks to wander into the fandom these past few years, between Zootopia, various anime on Netflix, and stuff like that. I mean, you’re probably gonna get a few folks for whom this’ll be the gateway drug.

Probably a side-effect of recording from home for pandemic reasons. Not every voice actor, even a long-time pro, is going to have a high-quality studio in their home when most of the time you can make do with an iPad, some decent software, and a closet as a recording booth.

I mean, they at least look more like something that was used as a hyper-advanced alien spaceship’s engine now.

My biggest beef with Reloaded, beyond waiting for all of the slo-mo fight scenes to be over, was how much time and energy the first movie spent building up the myth of the One, just to find out that within Zion itself Morpheus is regarded as a crackpot and a half-baked cult leader. (I don’t actually mind the reveal of

Could be because there’s a new one on the horizon.

I’m talking less about the quality and more about the aesthetic. I mean, I’m not going to pretend to have a finger on the pulse of the community at large, but at least in my online corner of it this has barely even gotten a reaction beyond an eye-roll.
