This thing we’ve never seen before could be fine if done right. Have to try and explain your way around how it wouldn’t invalidate the Rule of Two. Get around that and go nuts. Have him be outside the Rule of Two in some way.

I think part of it comes from the Expanded Universe novels, where you got nerds who read all the books and comics and could enjoy sneering at people who had only seen the movies, like that one guy who brags that he’s read the Bible in the original Hebrew and the rest of us don’t know the ‘real’ story.
I can’t remember where I read this, but I understand that is in fact the case. And even if it weren’t, I believe he destroyed all of his negatives of the originals years ago so even if you wanted to put out a new release today, you’d have to do some literal magic on the very hard to find DVD release that had the…
Ugh, yeah, this. If one of the main cast passes away and they insist on continuing, best case scenario is we get a Sealab-esque spiral because it won’t be the same, everyone knows it won’t be the same, and the tragedy might ruin anything positive the rest of the cast might get out of the show.
If you sat me down and demanded to know if I enjoyed Rise of Skywalker, one word only, yes/no and no room for nuance, I’d have to say I did... but that’s also in the same sense that a D grade is still passing. There were things I liked, but a lot of missed opportunities.
I see what you did there.
The phrase ‘craft a perfect bowl of cereal’ makes me think of a website that General Mills ran many, many years ago where one could order cereals custom-mixed. Pretty much any individual cereal component you could find in a GM cereal could be mixed and matched into plastic bowls that were then sealed and shipped to…
Admittedly, the latter idea doesn’t make a ton of sense within the context of Doctor Who. Though the show has always played fast and loose with how much humanity remembers about the many, many planet-wide alien invasions that have happened during the show’s tenure, it’s hard to buy that MI6 knows that UNIT and…
I’m not gonna deny, I’ve long been curious about HOX/POX, but I’ve been reluctant to get the trade because I honestly suspect to find out that anything I like about the comic is going to be undone within a year or two. Even if it’s just a great story on its own, it’s just disappointing when that happens.
When I worked in a bookstore, one of my coworkers swore that Snickers had amazing energy-giving properties and since the vending machine always had them, I chose to believe her. Maybe it was psychosomatic, but I feel like a Snickers gives me a boost.
Or when he and Rey perform their lightsaber hand-off trick, and Kylo reveals his weapon to his former Knights with whom he’s about to do battle, giving a slight whaddya-gonna-do shrug and the barest hint of a smile.
I remember seeing Cats live on stage as part of some sort of school trip. There was a family that controlled most of the local schools directly or indirectly, so if the daughter of the family wanted to visit, say, Toronto or New York City, they’d make it a school trip so the school board would pay for it (I also saw…
I’m still planning on seeing this in theaters, but I’m taking little comfort in knowing that this is going to match my expectations. Though at least I can brace myself, that’s something, at least.
This still doesn’t feel like a show that can keep churning out new episodes for another decade (at some point, they’re going to run out of tropes to mock)
Well, on the plus side, Rick did not destroy an entire planet in order to stop his grandson from successfully pitching a Netflix series.
“I wasn’t a stormtrooper, wiseass!” I do love a “Stormtroopers can’t shoot” joke.
I do get it’s an alternate Earth Batman and the rules go out the window there. (After all, as we’ve seen in the comics, there are a number of universes where Batman gets murderous) My issue is less ‘this is a Batman gone bad to teach Kate some sort of lesson’ and more ‘this is a Batman gone bad and they went to the…
I know I’m going to be in the minority, but I severely disliked Kevin Conroy’s cameo. Maybe it’s because I haven’t gotten around to watching Batwoman and so there’s a lot of reference and resonance I’m missing, but as someone coming in cold it felt like “Hey, here, have the iconic Batman you grew up with, taking a…
While I doubt this is the case, but if this is a recent/timely letter, then that would put this guy’s birthday close enough to the holiday season that I’d say “Leave the 20% on the scotch, make your server’s Christmas.”
Whether or not Simone owed Brent anything, she basically wrote off Chidi as well in the process. She had to have known that trying to pull someone out of a literal Hell pit (as far as she knew), especially without help, would have been dangerous. And she was willing to let Chidi sacrifice himself for Brent. For me,…
