I just wanna know if they'll find some way to bring Jose Chung back from the dead. Is that so much to ask?

See, my first thought on Joan's rapidly-disappearing rage is a phenomenon that I've been recently made aware of that female characters simply aren't allowed to hold grudges for as long as male characters on television. Male viewers don't like seeing women be angry for stretches at a time, and as a result you get

Honestly, I'm kinda hoping this winds up not working out, for a couple reasons. First off, the Punisher only really works as a foil to less lethal heroes; on his own, he's basically a serial killer who occasionally targets supervillains. There's any amount of media about dudes with guns saving the day against evil,

Marville is a comic that actually makes the world a little worse by its very existence.

Now, it was for a comedy one-off, but Marvel once came up with a mutant supervillain named Eye Scream, with the power to turn into ice cream and back. He had a vendetta against the X-Men because he was rejected from Xavier's school for being too ridiculous. He was defeated by a surly party clown named Obnoxio who'd

What, do you think she can beat up Galactus without Squirrel Girl's help?

It's pretty obvious in the grand scheme of things that Simpson and the people supplying his pills are a setup for later — probably the proper Defenders series. That's probably why he seems out of place, because he kinda is. This show draws out his arc about an episode longer than it absolutely has to, and everything

I have to admit, if I was running a theater set up to show the marathon, I'd do whatever I could to quietly arrange a Machete Order showing. (I imagine the distributor/studio wouldn't officially let you, but I'd figure something out.)

It's Dowd. Assume that the letter is at least a full letter lower than any other reviewer will give.

"Though Melissa Benoist sells the hell out of Kara’s betrayal upon learning all of this, I’m not exactly sure what she feels betrayed by. I buy that a child might not grasp why her beloved aunt needs to go to jail, but surely 24-year-old Kara can understand that her mom felt the need to lock up a violent criminal.

That's fair. That said, I think we'll see that more down the road so they can keep the conflict focused on Blaine vs. Mr. Boss for now.

Fair enough. I'm just not sure it needs much explanation (another response to my intial comment spells it out pretty succinctly). Just normally, his… I dunno, what would you call it, Zombie Mafia? Just whatever his organization is, for the most part very little of it becomes relevant to the plot except in the big

I think the key to getting the flashbacks right is giving them a coherent plot that has parallels or references to the modern segments without just finding excuses for them to hit emotional beats that the modern scenes call back to.

Every episode, has, like, one Ravi line that utterly slays, and I look forward to it every time. (Last episode's was his "I have a badge" comment in the discussion about 'badge bunnies.')

Thank you. Sometimes it's all to easy to forget that "Villain who's a delight to watch on-screen because the actor is perfect for the character" and "Villain who's a completely amoral monster with no regard for human life or dignity" aren't mutually exclusive. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that we never see Blaine

"Who the heck is the person running our pretty zombie friend’s prostitution ring? Is it Blaine? I would say it is his father, but he’s in the deep freeze and Blaine thinks he’s dead so I was under the assumption Blaine took his brain business back. The long term arcs on this show are generally strong but this one has

Fair enough. I dunno, maybe there's a part of me that just wants there to be a dramatic reveal involved above and beyond "He's just really badass."

Let's just hope there's a Season 2, then. I mean that sincerely.

I'm willing to bet that this is the planted seed for when Winn's supervillain father turns up and tries to recruit him, and the resulting tension.

Oh, I agree. After the Red Tornado episode, I was literally on the "If this next episode doesn't wow me, I'm done with the show" fence. Now, of course, YMMV, but I found this one pretty good. So I'm still on board for the moment.
