My problem is not with paywalls, its that even if you pay their sites are still infected with 30+ things that Ghostery would block because of tracking and privacy.

I get these news sites need to generate capitol, I’ve got no problem with that if I wanted to be a full time reader. However don’t allowing linking an article from your site, and then when I want to read it, guess what, “pay wall”, nope not interested!
Wow. As an Android user with an unlimited data plan, if you would’ve asked me if Apple gave you the option to download over data after the warning I would’ve said “they most certainly would.” This just seems like common sense for improving the usability of their products for users. The fix seems so obvious and easy to…
It would be nice if they wiped my ass too, but like most functional adults I can do that on my own. Just like I can decided on my own how to use the data I pay for. Fuck Apple and their apologists. If you need saving from yourself then maybe you shouldn’t have a smartphone, the responsible adults will continue…
Apple already gets shit for not doing enough to protect users from unexpected data overages. Now you want them to do less? Most people have mobile data caps. Even in the US, only the most expensive plans are unlimited. Unlimited plans don’t even exist in Canada on any major carrier.
The warnings are fine.
As someone who has to share 4GB with 3 other people, i very much appreciate these warnings.
My phone doesn’t have this problem. But it’s not a terrible post made by apple so that’s probably why.
I guess there were some other words in the middle, but I read the title as “Apple’s Still Dumb”.
You’re forgetting that one of the main selling points of gmail at launch was never having to delete email.
0.9 here, big inbox. PEBKAC? PICNIC?
gmail load time has been an established problem for at least six months. Load times approaching a minute even for relatively fast connections are generally noted. Most conclude that it’s client-side cruft (google keeps adding more and more javascript calling more and more javascript calling who knows what), with a…
Pro-tip: If you want to quickly verify if this is an extension issue and are using Chrome, open an Incognito tab and test there. Incognito typically doesn’t run extensions (unless specifically given permission).
My problems with gmail aren’t that it is unusable but that, on occasion, gmail will say there is mail in the Inbox but that mail isn’t there for extended periods of time - sometimes a lot of time passes between “Inbox(1)“ and Inbox having that mail to read..
Unlike a phone — I turn Siri right TF off — a smart speaker is a device designed for voice activation, which means it must by definition always be listening, and for it to be “smart” it must be internet connected. That is a combination that will never, *ever* be welcome in my home.
I think this qualifies as a health food.
Your Facebook app does not NEED your location, but Mr Zuckerberg needs the money that having your location earns him.
I think they will figure it out when phone #1 stays home all day, phone #2 stays in your office all day, and phone #3 starts at home, rides the train to your office, goes down the street to the deli for lunch, returns to your office, gets back on the train, stops at the grocery store, then walks the 5 blocks back to…
I know many people treat this very seriously but I just used Google Location History to replay "today" and the minor "impreciseness" of GPS makes it freaking hilarious. My phone was in the computer room last night but it looks like it danced about the apartment all night - including when it ran to the church across…
