@avclub-1df8797177fc3b52be6784aacca7358c:disqus Oh, ok. There was still some weird LUUUCAAAS-stuff going on with the (otherwise excellent) CD version though. They suddenly turned Chaos female, for example.

Yeah, but didn't they remove most of the close-ups and possibly also his bloody demise for the CD version? LUUUUCAAAAAAS!!!!
@GhaleonQ:disqus Yeah, Gilbert is pretty hit-or-miss. There's a nice piece of developer commentary in the Monkey Island 2 special edition where Gilbert goes "So, this is the amazing scene where Guybrush digs up this guys' bones and then his pants fall down! That was my idea!" and Schafer replies with: "Yup, sure was."
Screw that, I opened and read the guide for Riddles of Master Lu right there in the store. I'm not paying 15 bucks because some idiot figured making one ace of spades on a wallpaper full of them clickable passes for puzzle design.
Another one that deserves mention is The Whispered World. Sure, some puzzles are weird and the ending is rubbish, but it looks and sounds really, really good: https://www.youtube.com/wat…

TABLOID REPORTER STRANGLES BOSS OVER LOUSY ASSIGNMENT
Yeah, MI4 is bad, but at least it's funny, unlike Tales.
Ha. First time I visited a girl at her house, the one thing on my mind was "So, you mentioned that your dad has Loom, right? Can we please play that?"
Oh crap.. actually there were two different endings in the game. Uhm, spoiler? I can hardly remember it, but I think you could revive Maggie and then she you would tell you that that was pretty awful of you and demand you kill her again.
There was also Magnetic Scrolls, which people loved back then, but maybe that was because of the graphics. Personally, the games drove me crazy. Also I had to temporarily fill up my amazing 250MB harddisk with rubbish because their installer couldn't handle it and assumed I had -80MB left.
Also, newfangled versions here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4…
Hey guys. Remember Mark Ferrari? The guy who did the background graphics for Loom, for example? Well, then check out his sweet HTML5 color cycling demos here and pine. PINE!
No idea about their King's Quest releases, but GOG sometimes does the same thing. Which is why I didn't get their Wing Commander, because I'm afraid I'll have to adjust CPU cycles until the speed feels right or some nonsense like that.
Not a fan of the voice acting, to be honest. The way the game is scripted/the dialogue is seperated into single lines really ruins most of the rhythm and timing.
"SOMI is available on Steam and XBLA; not only is it, by all accounts, an *entirely* faithful remake"
Because of e-fame, yes, but also quality control, same as with any other brand. When you, as a consumer, see something's available from THORA, you know that's the version that's closest to Blu-Ray. When you have the choice between CTU and Immerse, you'll want to go with Immerse because the encode is usually better and…
@avclub-e053e4f47a7ccbc51be254596e483d7c:disqus has a point re: classical and jazz concerts, though. Pop concerts (in the broad definition) are a great way to blow off some steam and just have some fun, but especially with classical music, it's a whole different thing. I don't know, maybe it's an issue with the…
@GhaleonQ:disqus Because you're playing it already or because you're looking forward to it? Is there even any commitment to an international release or am I gonna have to wait for Rising Star to pick up everyone's slack again?
Pfft. Tian Mi Mi has Maggie Cheung in it and Christopher Doyle (yes, that Christopher Doyle) as an English teacher. And obviously a decent amount of Teresa Teng.
It works as a visual companion piece to the book. If you've read it, the movie feels like looking at a forgotten photo album of a time in your life you vaguely remember. But the pacing is really off, so I doubt it works well as a stand-alone movie.
