For the fifth time, slightly different details are incredibly common among eyewitnesses to a crime. This is widely known and understood. If “told slightly different stories” was reason to declare no crime was committed we would have a crime-free world.

How likely is it to find a cab? I couldn’t describe the last cab I was in any better than, “Uh, it’s a cab. I got in somewhere in this part of town and got out at location Y. The driver was a dude ... between 25 and 60.”

I’m recalling this off the top of my head, but I think he said cash, one or two of the wallets. They left the credentials and their phones.

I’ll ask again: How does it benefit him to draw attention to a drug deal that went south?

Was the text to his mom the first report of the crime? I was under the impression he texted her after reporting it so she wouldn’t worry, but I could be wrong. I haven’t seen a timeline on that.

I could buy this if he was giving tons of interviews about the robbery but ... he wasn’t. He gave one brief one to NBC which frankly looked like they just ran into him on the beach. It was not formal at all.

A used Fitbit is worth about $10-25. I do agree not taking the phones is weird.

I believe they said they had no uniforms, police car, etc. (although don’t quote me because I don’t recall hearing how the alleged robbers got away), which is why I think the assumption was that they were fake.

You mean like a drug deal gone bad or something? I can believe Lochte was buying pot in Rio no sweat. But if the deal went bad, I don’t think even he is dumb enough to report it as a robbery.

Some of your facts are not actually facts or are still in dispute. For starters, I literally just heard a report that Lochte was on his preplanned flight home, and did NOT change plans, although one of the other athletes did (I think after the judge ordered them detained).

Right. I’m def. the one coming off like an idiot here. OK, bro.

From what little I know of Lochte’s relationship with his mom, she would def. not be worried or surprised to find out he spent the night doing blow off a series of hooker asses.

So, you’re a psychic who can tell those are wallets? Because those look like credentials to me. And one of the “watches” looks like a Fitbit or something.

Thank you, this has been my question. I see no motivation for them to make up this story. Even the people who say it’s fake don’t seem to have any reason why they would make it up.

investigating a crime that most likely didn’t happen

It’s bizarre. I just saw the tape that the judge cited as them “joking around” and not being traumatized enough to have been robbed.

MIL is “greatest generation”. And it’s not racially motivated at all, as far as I can tell. She just is insane about “outsiders” in her house. Like, she doesn’t even like it when she has to hire an electrician or something — as if the dude’s lucrative electrical business is just a cover for him being a master cat

I get that we owe our parents some loyalty for raising us, but you’ve got your own kids to worry about now, and your own life and career.

You aren’t wrong, but it’s also a lot easier said than done.

I remember watching this live, and being a pretty young kid, I bought the storyline of this villainess girl who tripped America’s Sweetheart(tm).
