Not really. So I had a kid. Another 3-4 years and I should be able to break out my board games. ;)

My best friend from high school was like that. We were like sisters, lost touch post-college. I found her again in the Facebook era and now she’s a homeschooling, racist-meme sharing, asshole who brags about how she keeps tons of guns in the house (available to her mentally ill teenage son!). She is fucking scary now.…
He’s an old friend who is turning into a crotchety old man before my eyes. Not really sure what’s going on. He wasn’t always like this.
You don’t think rich people don’t complain about PC culture? The wealthiest people I know are also the most racist and least sympathetic to minorities of all kinds.
And the professionally ornery!
I’m sure many would disagree, but I don’t think Indian is any more degrading than Viking or Celtic, for instance (although let’s note, “Indian” is no longer the preferred term for many people the label would be applied to). The main issue there, for me, is pairing the name with that grinning idiot of a mascot.
Bingo. I’m a Giants fan, and I can only give them half-credit for this, because while they’re clearly trying to do the right thing, they are also going out of their way not to make the obvious point.
I was an only child and my parents HATED playing board games and I love them. I occasionally tried to do one on my own. This post is giving me mild sadness flashbacks.
I agree. The USPS is one of the greatest things in our government, IMO.
THIS. I’ve gotten the sense that even when I asked questions the recruiter didn’t particularly want to answer that they appreciated/admired that I actually thought to ask them.
I think you’d be fine to just tell the truth: I tried something new because it looked like a good opportunity to learn some new skills and I quickly realized it wasn’t as good of a fit as my old role, so I’m looking to do X again.
If the gig became available because someone moved on, it’s also okay to ask follow-up questions about why that person’s no longer in the position.
Right? You are not allowed to bitch about enforcement of social norms when YOU are the one breaking them.
I don’t know — it is weird. I know a lot of old people who have gotten really angry too. I assume some of it is just the realization that time is running out combined with general life dissatisfaction?
But the original pairing of clip and song was pure parody. This tweet is using the fair-use-protected IP. I’m not sure how that effects the legal standing, but I’m sure it does.
There are some real nut jobs out there.
Great post. Now can you run it in the South Jersey newspapers so my mother-in-law can see it?
Depends on the type of writing/project though. I’ve wanted to try this with some clients and it’s hard to justify something like, “OK, here’s the intro to your 1500 word article ... send a check and you get the rest.” Some projects just don’t have natural “stopping” points.
Philly is about 1700% better than Austin, which is hurt by having the stank of Texas affixed to it.
I’m not angry, and frankly I don’t give a shit about you or your taxes. What I don’t like is when people spout utter nonsense as fact, and then they use that non-fact to make assertions about someone else as you did by implying that Sanders must be up to malfeasance since his rate is “only” 13%. As I’ve mentioned…
