I think everyone’s responding to your clear intense hatred for the author. It’s really weird and creepy and off putting. Because you started with all that anger towards her, everything else you were saying—which was probably just you waxing happily about a show you love—came across as you bitching at the author about

Did you wake up today and think to yourself “I’m going to be a dick and bully someone online.” Thanks for making the world a better place.

....you ok?

Dude, stop clicking on articles for the sole purpose of bitching about clicking on articles. If you really don’t like something, stop supporting it by clicking the links. What you’re doing is just trolling, and it’s on the level of “trolling a tinder date who laughed at your weird dick” trolling.

Damn dude.

It wasn’t moore... it was David Eick that thought it was cool. says so there in the article you are blasting on about.

The end was fucking garbage. Look, I’m all about suspension of disbelief for the sake of story. That’s part of what science fiction is about. But I have a REALLY hard time with it when it comes to people acting wildly irrationally — or worse, in ways that people *simply do not act*. The ending was essentially:

You clearly aren’t familiar with internalized racism, black identity, or black culture if you’re automatically defaulting to “she’s black, so this is positive and cool”.

Well, you know, there are even countries that habitually re-make entire movies and TV series in their own language and (whatever they use in lieu of a) culture, rather than just subtitling. Go figure.

This has to be the most millennial answer ever. You think headphones didn’t come along until the iPod? You know there were discman and walkman waaaay before the iPod, right? And way before 1994.

Really? Did Halle Berry make you like Catwoman?

One thing that’s always bothered me about cannibal movies is that the cannibals always seem to eat their human flesh raw and disgusting, with lots of slurping and splashing of gore. I guess that’s supposed to amp up the horri, but I just don’t understand it. Why does becoming a cannibal also mean you no longer care

And yet Hollywood thinks that people can only identify with white actors...

That door swings both ways. The reason white washing exists is because the media also feels that the only stars that will sell a film are the top class white actors that get hired again and again because they’re the perfect white standard. Its cyclical.

Since 99-plus percent of what’s out there stars characters that don’t look like this little girl (or the majority of the global population), then this isn’t really a problem, is it? She pretty much only has characters she has to bridge that gap for. So your argument is really moot.

I know you think you have the moral high ground, but fact is there are a lot of shitty parents out there with shitty kids who put down other children based on their skin color, gender, or perceived background no matter what their parents teach them.

So splain us why a white american kid would no identify on an asian (japanse) led film? Why did they need to change it to a white lead instead? It’s whitewashing, it’s just like saying that everybody would identify with a white lead but not a POC lead

You’re a fucking idiot. There’s a difference between only being able to identify with certain racial characters, and being presented with NO CHOICES that look like you in any remote way in culture or race. The very lack of options is itself a message to children.
