Brooke Smith is one of my favorite actresses. She used to show up in a lot of things—I’m thinking she was in “Big Love”? Definitely “Crossing Jordan.”

These observations fascinate me. They also make me wonder how you related to “The L Word,” whose actors were all over the Kinsey scale, as I understand it. I imagine that some of it is being a good actor but some of it is that ineffable something that has to do with self-knowledge?
Doesn’t it also ignore the closet? You have to be out if you’re going to be considered for a queer role. That makes me a bit uncomfortable.
Judging from her dad’s recent interview with Letterman, she’s the quieter, UTR type.
As someone said in another comment, now I’m realizing why she probably got the reputation for being “difficult”: I’m guessing there’s a lot of shit she just wouldn’t put up with, and it was in the industry’s best financial interest to paint her as the problem. I hope she has the last laugh.
Thank you for making arguments so weak and specious that I can spot their flaws through the damn screen. Your blunt reductivism negates what otherwise seems to be a flawlessly discerning and ethical personality.
Being compassionate toward a human being isn’t the same as supporting a racist. This is a human being who has experienced something horrible. Deciding whether she’s worthy enough to receive your sympathy is a kind of discrimination. It’s up to you whether that literal discrimination becomes as heartless and…
My story’s similar, though I was in my 30s when I started medication. It was the first thing that really helped me. It just got a lot of stuff out of the way, helped me re-prioritize.
It’s far from perfect. I’ve changed meds a lot over the past 20-odd years. Eventually they stop working and I have to wean off them and…
What, no Ativan? I must be old-school.
I think they were all flat—but consistent with the tune. I assumed they were having hearing issues.
Considering that this was my main takeaway from the sketch, I’m gonna assume you were a kid in the ‘70s as well.
Apparently it has lots and lots of properties but not the lots and lots of members it claims.
OK, I’m a longtime anti-$ci person, and I’d still like to see evidence supporting this claim. God knows they’ve been involved in negligent homicide, but outright murder?
Yeah, but the central origin story, however fun it is to mock, doesn’t matter here as much as the practices of the CoS. (Which, I know, I know, pedophile priests, etc....but there’s still nothing like the way CoS codifies abusive practices like “fair game” and disconnection.)
Hey, you do you.
I’ve never boned a Libertarian.
Wasn’t the source of the Martin rumor the description of “an older actor” or a “very well established actor” or some other term that seemed off, chronologically, for Charlie at the time?
Not that I’m endorsing the Martin rumor in any way.
I can’t help you. I wasn’t involved enough to have any knowledge about that. I was in scenes with Kevin but didn’t really interact with him in real life at all.
Hey, if you’re local to MD and non-union, you’re kind of screwed. For a while, we had two major series filming here; now we’re down to none. There’s other work to be had, but a lot of local people will feel the impact of the shutdown. (Again, not that I think the production company did the wrong thing—it was a smart…
On the one hand: HoC has been one of the few sources of pay for me these past few years. (I’ve worked background a few times and was planning to do so again this season.) I do feel bad for the many, many people whose lives are affected.
On the other hand: I think they made the right choice in terms of ethics,…
Mmmm...caaaaaake....
