Counterpoint: The market can “speak” and it’s still gross. Acting like capitalism is the ultimate arbiter of whether something is right or wrong is missing the point.

In the world of sneakers, $80 really isn’t that much anymore.* If you want a quality shoe that will last, you’re going to have to pay for it. For example, I worked in a running and fitness store for a few years. Our shoes averaged around $110-120. I can’t tell you how many customers came in accustomed to paying $60-70…

It’s that damned JW Player the Deadspin’s evil overlords changed the site to. That player’s autoplay is the reason I have a script blocker turning it off. 

They clearly aren’t all that willing to “stomp his skull in”, and he’d be surrounded by a group of people doing the same thing, false flagging.

Artificial scarcity. You could just sell shoes at a reasonable price in stores. OR you can hype them up as a limited exclusive, make people fight over them and jack the prices so high you can make the same amount of money while actually making far less product- and virtually guarantee you’ll move the whole run. 

Am I oversimplifying if I say the solution to this “problem” is it to just not fucking buy this shit*?

I’m starting to think the only thing to do is punish the collective until they see why they need to police their own.

Why replay the game? Should be automatic forfeiture....only way to shut these guys up once and for all. 

Why do “Recent Videos from Deadspin” auto-play, with sound?  It’s making me hate whomever appears in the videos. 

It’s been a banner fortnight for racism in English soccer. After the debacle in Sofia, wherein the England national team was racially abused by Bulgarian fans, the racism came home in an FA Cup match this weekend.

So the Yeovil Town racist fans cost their team a win and the rematch will be an away game? PERFECT. This is how you incentivize everyone in the stadium to shut these racists the fuck up. 

Still one of the least loathsome McCains. 

13-year-olds are obnoxious enough. Imagine one that’s rich enough to get to go to every single home NFL game for years.

I have an 11 year-old, nicest kid in the world. We hear often about how polite and helpful he is. Last year at a sporting event he said something ridiculously antagonizing to a fan of the other team and I had to jump in and 1. ask him where he picked up the specific trash talk (youtube), and 2. calm the other guy down…
