I love so many musical comedy acts. Rachel Bloom and Flight of the Conchords for sure. But I'd say the Lonely Island has probably produced the most memorable musical comedy hits in the last decade.

I just marathoned on Parks and Recreation for the first time. What a charming, happy delight. I almost immediately wanted to rewatch the whole series again. I think I love all the side characters almost as much as the main cast. It reminded me of Gilmore Girls in showing a whole community of quirky recurring…
I kept my cable subscription for years just for TCM. Then I found out Sling TV offers a package with TCM. And they also have a bunch of TCM movies available to stream too. I went from paying around $200 for internet and cable to $100 from internet and Sling TV. But I do miss my DVR sometimes. Especially during 31 Days…
Hmm…I wonder if today's batshit tweets have anything to do with distracting us from the news that Russia tried to hack US voter software days before the November election?
I'm thinking the Real Time crew could use some more diverse voices. And corraling a bunch of comedians isn't his thing. But a panel of politicians and pundits who aren't there to just get laughs but to actual engage in debates - I think he'd be good at that.
I actually liked his show. He was too smart for his panel. That's why it didn't work. They wanted to make jokes and one up each other. They didn't really care about the issues or having a discussion. Wilmore leading an actually discussion with adults would be great.
I was thinking Larry Wilmore would actually make a great replacement Real Time host.
I think nonchalant racism is more pervasive and harmful than balatant racism. Explicit racism is overt and easy to condemn. Implicit racism may be unconscious and done without malice, but it is just as toxic.
After watching Logan this week I just may have to pick up some X-23 stories. It looks like The Complete Collection is only $5. That seems like a good place to start.
Oh I definitely have some exceptions too. Sarah Connor in Terminator 2 with a shotgun still gives me thrills. And I adore The Long Kiss Goodnight and Thelma and Louise which both have great, fun gun scenes. But for the most part, I'm with you. Give me more martial arts and killer stunts please.
Hmm…this article got me thinking about if I enjoy gun violence in movies and think they are cool. And I actually tend to prefer action movies were guns are limited or viewed as an annoyance, and they have to come up with more creative ways to show violence and destruction. Like in Mad Max: Fury Road where the guns and…
I'm so pissed at myself for not seeing Mad Max: Fury Road in the theater in 3D. I didn't watch it until it was on blu-ray. It's become one of my top favorite movies ever. I've considered renting a theater for my birthday some year and showing that and something else as a fun double feature. Possibly The Long Kiss…
I just saw Beauty and the Beast during a weekday afternoon and was the only one in the theater. After having my plans to see it get cancelled several times, I had an afternoon free and went myself. I sang along to all the songs. It was a blast.
That attitude could actually work for watching the movie because in it Logan is pretty tired of Wolverine. But I'd say don't watch it for grizzled, tired Logan (though Jackman is awesome in the film). Watch it for ferocious, badass Laura. Dafne Keen steals the movie and she hardly says a word.
"Voodoo Chile" by Hendrix is probably my favorite. But I have a whole playlist of songs with guitar solos I love. Someday I plan to learn how to play them all.
I get songs stuck in my head all the time. But the ones that stay with me the longest are usually the ones I see in movies or tv shows. Disney movies are the worst for this. Disney plus Lin-Manuel Miranda is dangerous. The Moana soundtrack has been randomly running through my head for months. Last year it was all Hamil…
Holly Hunter.
I really wish Hillary had embraced decriminalizing or legalizing marijuana. She would have won the election. A populist issue that won big in November. The support for legalization keeps growing every year across all politcal demos, but especially with Independents. This issue also gets young voters to the polls when…
Everyday before I get online I take a deep breath and think "What did the dumbfuck do today?" It's exhausting keeping track of so much stupid.
