Teens are no longer millenials. Teens today are Gen Z.

Working in college is not a waste if you have no other choice. I wish I didn’t have to work in college. But I had to, to be able to afford to go, and to be able to commute there etc.

Social media. They can connect with their friends without leaving the house or putting on clothes. So they do. I have nieces and nephews that are 16 and older and they have zero desire to get licenses, and recently told me they can’t wait for driverless cars so that they never have to learn.

Infotainment, to be even more precise.

This was amazingly well written. Thank you. It’s so clear.

Ugh. NO. I do not want this. I don’t want her on that network period. I think of Fox news as a chicken pen for conservatives, where you keep all the like-minded fools grouped together. That’s where she belongs. And I will add that I also don’t want to see Megan McCain on The View. No. The more these people slip

I feel the same - like did we work together? I’m disturbed to read that there are so many people like us here in a similar work situation with a toxic man with a fragile ego. I responded to Rando above that I liked to think of my old boss as uniquely horrible, I’m sad to read that there are many people experiencing

If there’s any way to put a long term plan in place where you eventually leave this situation, I highly recommend it. Now that I’m out of my similar situation, I’m noticing all the long term stress and side effects of being in it for too long. All kinds of stuff gets internalized and it ain’t great. Ugh.

OMG I have literally had to do every single thing you’ve described with my (former) male boss. I’ll add another to the pile: when he made a mistake, and other people were going to be part of any e-mail chain where that was discussed and corrected, I had to put the language through a “political candidate” filter to

I cannot even begin to tell you how much I relate to your comments here. I worked in tech for a looooooooooooong time and I got the same kind of bullshit. My direct supervisor (white male, of course) always had something to say about me and my voice unrelated to my job performance, that really boiled down to me

Yes, and gay men can be misogynists too, they still live in a patriarchy and are subject to all the same brainwashing (and male privileges inherent in that structure.) Meaning: just because a person is in a marginalized group doesn’t mean that they can’t hate or harass or dominate another group. Example: one of my

Yes! Been saying this same thing for awhile. I remember history classes in high school and college that showcased all the propoganda films from Germany before and during WWII. Those films and posters were subject to massive study. Why aren’t we doing that with Fox news???? It’s bothering me so much.

It’s okay for individual people to use whatever words they need to use in order to handle grief. Grief is a personal journey for each person, and people have to process it in a variety of ways. In news articles, I think using words like “murder” is appropriate because it’s an accurate description. But for the loved

“just kinda sheltered and privileged” makes for some very tone deaf comments. I’ve seen her on various shows (like Watch What Happens Live), and the biggest issue with her is that she can sound smart, while not actually being informed on some pretty crucial points. And then GOP supporters take her word as gospel and

Ditto - all I could think of Lithgow playing Churchill was, “That’s Lithgow playing Churchill.”

Have you watched The Amazing Race? The amount of effort that goes into that production is staggering. The creativity with the location scouting and the country-specific challenges is pretty incredible. And the demands on the contestants are pretty incredible. I think it’s deserved all its awards. It’s no The Voice

The Good Place and Last Man on Earth are wonderful. Both network shows (NBC and Fox, respectively.)

Black Mirror must see episode: “Nosedive”. Season 3, episode 1. Deservedly nominated last year at the Emmys. You don’t have to watch Black Mirror in order. They’re separate stories. And yes, it’s worth it. Although as with all things, some episodes are better than others.

Ah ha ha, you sound just like me! I also played football with the neighborhood boys! (Although it was a fight to get them to include me!) And had a lavish barbie doll house. I played with race car tracks and had an easy bake oven. My parents gave me G.I. Joe sets and one of those Barbie Doll heads where you could
