well I'm glad I scrolled down before posting the same. I threw it on for a friend last week as a joke, but it kinda made me curious to come back and check the tape out. First thing by thugger I've kinda enjoyed.

I wasn't a huge fan, but as far as mainstream horror goes it's certainly above average. The blender scene was wonderful though

Crimson Peak, Insidious 3 and The Visit are all I can think of. All decent, but I'd rank at least the last 2 beneath everything else listed above (that I've seen). In general, this years crop were more well received critically.

Don't forget the Conjuring 2! Considering all of those and the new Blair Witch (which is supposedly very good), this seems like the best year for mainstream horror in god knows how long. Not that it's been stiff competition, but hey it's still something, right?!

Feardotcom's #1 fan here, I can attest William Malone is actually a pretty underrated director! This and his "House on Haunted Hill" remake are dumb as dirt, but he's a pretty fun and energetic stylist. At least more interesting than anyone else in early 2000s american horror , not that it's stiff competition.
