Also, anytime anyone DOES rationalize institutional malfeasance as being the result of “a few bad apples”, you can immediately write off everything they say as 100% PURE BULLSHIT, seeing as the expression is “A few bad apples SPOIL the bunch”.

There are undoubtedly some truly terrible people involved. But don’t underestimate what even the “average” person is capable of when they’re surrounded by a group which tolerates and normalizes this sort of behavior. None of what’s happening at these facilities is the result of “a few bad apples.” It’s by design.
