I like both Overboard and Captain Ron. In a vacuum I might prefer Mary Kay Place to Goldie Hawn, who I am not the hugest fan of, but Kurt Russell & Goldie Hawn have better chemistry.

What makes the original work is the real-life couple of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. Their screen chemistry and the meta knowledge that they’re a real couple helps to reduce the creep factor of the story quite a bit, IMO.
