They are. The OEM's manufacture the Nascar body panels that the teams purchase from them.

One is a competition issue, the other is a safety issue. That's why the HScott penalty is more severe.

That would be the control issue of putting a professional racer into the passenger seat...where he has zero input into what's happening.

The SAFER barrier was developed by the University of Nebraska between 1998 and 2002.

The last one was built in 1994, it'll be difficult to find something with that kinda longevity as the current one does.
