Why is it that, every time there’s a crisis, Musk needs to make himself involved?

I really don’t see the point in these ‘tuner’ brands. AMG, M, Alpina, etc. Even Maybach seems pointless. Why not just incorporate those variations into the core brand as trim levels or options? The extra brands just come off as even more pretentious.
