oof, I apologize, i know i can ramble sometimes.

hah, remember that fuckhead? alas, only pissed off Wisconsinites do. everyone else has blissfully forgotten that fuckhead Scott Walker.

I see that Steven Spielberg’s spin machine has successfully rewritten history. Laying this solely at the feet of Landis is exactly what Spielberg wants; nobody seems to consider that the wholesome Oscar winner could have any blood on his hands.

In 2022:

Honestly I don’t have a problem with this, overall. Social media is, by and large, trash. Kids have enough problems growing up in current conditions; social media codifies and records every awful impulse they have (also adults) and amplifies it to an absurd degree.

At some point we’re gonna have to have a come-to-Jesus with Big Food. We as a collective culture have just become OK with feeding ourselves garbage, and allowing the purveyors of said garbage to profit handsomely off of it.

Neither does National Treasure, as far as i recall.... (contain supernatural elements)

ugh, that was painful. here are a few images to wash your eyeballs with:

It’s the edge to Zuck, sure, unless he decides to use his additional tentacles, then its an easy win

180-200lbs?  uh, try 210+

THIS.  This this this.  Carnival is a cool looking minivan with some neat features, but there’s just no way I’d consider it over a Sienna when reliability is the main issue

i mean, i’ve been a pretty consistently committed player of FPS’s for 2 decades on a PC, and nowadays i probably spend more time on the NYT crossword app than anything else.

Saw Elemental. A sweet, innocuous 7.5/10. Ultimately it’s a by-the-numbers opposites-attract love story. The plot is a bit clunky in parts but mostly it works, and as usual, the visuals and design are just beautiful.  The kids will probably be perfectly happy with this one.

uh, your numbers are off, i think... average viewership for an NBA game is at least 3x that, and that’s for regular season games. playoff games are like 10x the numbers you’re using...

Somebody help me on the math here.

Who says Chicago has a monopoly on low-grade corruption and crony capitalism? You do you, Florida.  Bravo

That’s enough to get from Philadelphia to Montreal and back.

I have a myopic view, obviously, but I just basically gave up drinking a few years ago. So much data points to regular drinking- never even to excess- as being just... bad. Those old studies saying a glass of wine is good for your heart are just... nah.

I was in Chicago last weekend. The Emerson Quartet had a show at Symphony Hall with Emmanuel Ax... a Dvorak quintet. Ax is a goddamned virtuoso; my first time seeing him and the Emerson Quartet is retiring at the end of this year. It was a remarkably special performance, and a gift to the ~1500 people in attendance,

TBH I’ve called the first Transformers movie good on occasion, but it’s certainly a relative term. It was big, dumb, and silly, with decent action set pieces. I got a few laughs from it and enjoyed it as much as one can with Michael Bay fare. The rest of them were absolute mind-numbing dogshit.
