I just read on cnn.com the dog walker is recovering, and Gaga has offered a huge reward, no questions asked.

Those dogs sell for bonkers money so I suspect it’s just “stealing dogs for profit” but the person who did that is either desperate or insane because they really did not need to shoot the guy four times to get those dogs away from him.

Shooting a stranger four times in the chest to steal a pair of dogs sounds completely insane to me. I’m not normally conspiracy minded but I have to wonder if the motive was more than just “lets steal a couple dogs for profit.” Feels like there could be some real rage there, meaning it was done specifically to hurt…

Oh my god - I can’t believe someone shot a dog walker four times and stole the dogs? What the fuck!? This is horrible. I hope they catch the assailants quickly, the dog walker recovers fully, the pups are okay, and Gaga gets reunited with her beloved pets.

It could have been taking paternity leave, and it could have been the company made labor arrangements for his leave and discovered its cheaper to just disseminate his duties among the team.

Maybe, but if they had other serious grounds, I’m guessing they would have fired him before they paid him for two free weeks of leave. Waiting until afterward lets them point to the paternity leave and pretend that they had no problem with his new fatherhood. NO company wants to keep an employee of either gender who…

This is how it usually goes in the comments. It’s just frustrating because lay people have a very distorted perception of our justice system and a judge’s role within it. To be fair though, the media doesn’t help, and poorly written articles like this one only exacerbate the problem.

I don’t mean to come across as “well actually” or “mansplainy”, but those are two separate employment laws.

This, 100%. There is no one just sitting around monitoring corporate communications actively looking for...what? Baby stuff? This doesn’t hold up to any reasonable scrutiny.

We have one of the best parental programs in Quebec. In My situation my wife is a stay at home mom, so I would be able to take up to 17 weeks of paid parental leave(paid by the RQAP) without fear or blowback from my work. 

Not really. I don’t know the guy, but I do know reality on planet Earth.

And this is why Right to Work is an assault on worker’s rights dressed as a worker-supporting doctrine.  It really means right-to-fire.

If I’m reading the judges ruling correctly.. they’re stating that men do not have the protection of anti-pregnancy discrimination laws because they’d can’t get pregnant. lol I know right. I live in Canada and while our parental leave rules are a bit crap, men do have rights for parental leave. If you get money is another story as it’s shared between you and the mother but still... It amazes me how backwards the US is sometimes. It’s hard to tell the difference between it and some poor…

Some of it’s weird but: being fired right after coming off 2 weeks’ paternity leave? That seems clear-cut as fuck.
