Yeah, that’s all a bit too lazy for me. They’re have to have some way to transfer control in case something happens to the one not actor that can pilot the ship, and the shuttle flight didn’t take very long, they’d have to be able to rig a cargo container to hold people for a short flight, and just do a lottery and…

Two things I don't understand. If they can get a shuttle to the ship, why can't they just rescue everybody.  And, if they can get a shuttle to the ship, why can't they bring another Captain who can dock the ship?
