Same experience for me. I bought a 1 owner Cooper S with only 30k miles from the original owner. Had all the records. It was his baby. Anyway, when it reached 36k miles but out of warranty it needed new gaskets and other motor work totaling $3300. I sold it and now will never own another MINI.

I’m not so sure that having all that much weight behind the rear axle of a FWD car is a great idea. You see, the weight that far back will act as a lever and life the front wheels up.
